terry the lone wolf Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Whose else is a fan of THE GREATEST KUNG FU FILM EVER; The 5 Deadly Venoms! Five people taught in the ways of the deadly Poison Clan. Like the agile & wall walking Lizard/Gecko and the iron skinned Toad whose skin is impervious to any weapon. Here's a review for the Venoms DVD. 5venomsdvd Quote

Our local ABC used to have "Black Belt Theater" every friday at just before midnight in the 80's and they played a different kung fu flick every week. That was my fave back then. I have the DVD too. Classic. Quote
cube Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 hm, i really have to pick that one up...cant believe it's not in my collection...return of the 5 deadly venoms is sweet too. http://www.kungfucinema.com/reviews/crippl...gers_010204.htm Quote
OverTechJunkie Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 yeah that's one of all time favorites. The other movie starring the venoms I recommend is Avenging Warriors of Shaolin, Invincible Shaolin, and Mortal Combat aka Return of the 5 Deadly Venoms. Although I grew up with the dubbs, I really enjoy the newly restored chinese version by Celestrial. The picture quality is superb. All the of the Venom gang movies are still yet to be released. Quote

It's like Crippled Avengers in that the Venoms return. The story is that the head of escort service hires some of the best martial artists to protect this gold shipment for these famine victims. Lo Meng (Toad from the Venoms and the deaf mute from Crippled Avengers) is Golden Arm leader of Chi Sa gang & the Seven Hooks who plans to steal the gold and eliminate the heroes. Golden Arm is very similar to the Toad where his arms can destroy any weapon. Agent Hi To (Phillip Kwok, Lizard from the Venoms and the blind man from Crippled Avengers) is enlisted by the gov't to destroy the gang and protect the gold. He has a very unusual style of kung fu where he really gets drunk and is unbeatable.kidwiththegoldenarm Edited June 6, 2006 by terry the lone wolf Quote
cube Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 (edited) yea, I've seen all the main shaw ones from back in the day, plus a bunch of obscure ones...one of these days i'll start collecting them again...i think flying guillotine is first on my list right now though. most of the ones i have now are from crash cinema and the vid quality isnt the best...these celestrial ones may be worth a look if they're better Edited June 6, 2006 by cube Quote

terry the lone wolf Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 That's also one of my faves along with Master Killer. Gordon Liu baby!! 405894 I have Return of Master Killer aka Enter the 36 Chambers. Yup, Gordon Liu is da man. He showed he's still one of the baddest out there in both his appearances in both Kill Bill movies. Did you know Phillip Kwok from the Venoms worked as martial arts director in The Brotherhood of the Wolf? Quote
terry the lone wolf Posted June 7, 2006 Author Posted June 7, 2006 (edited) I just got it recently. It rocks! 405943 The Venoms is defintely the best man. Hey, I like that Bachelor Party avatar; that flick is fav of mines'. Edited June 7, 2006 by terry the lone wolf Quote
Golden Arms Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 (edited) I thought I was one of the only Old School Kung Fu fans here, Its great to see others around. I Have nearly all of the Venoms films either on DVD or tape. Suncoast used to be one of the best places to pick up their films. Ebay is probably the best place to hunt down their films. I highly recommend these other lesser known venoms Films: Philip Kwok(Kuo Chiu-- the lizard) and Lo Meng( the toad) both show up in John Woo's Hardboiled. Magnificient Ruffians--- Great ending fight sequence between Kuo Choi and Chiang Sheng vs Lu Feng. Lu Feng Is at his best in this film. His weapon skills are phenomenal. Flag of Iron-- See above, this time with Iron Flags and the Spearman Daredevils-- This time the venoms are all good guys who battle a evil general Wang Li who killed their friend Lo Meng. Ten Tigers from Kwantung-- all 6 venoms, Fu Sheng, and Ti Lung one of the best cast every assembled for a kung Fu Film Killer Army Great ending fight sequence between Kuo Choi and Chiang Sheng vs Lu Feng. Chinese Super Ninjas -- the Only venom that appears in this film is actor Lo Meng but this maybe Director Chang Cheh's best action piece Ninja in the Deadly Trap-- While Chang Cheh and Lo Mong were making Chinese Super Ninjas the other venoms were in Taiwan shooting this film with actor Yasuaki Kurata 2 Champions of Shaolin-- Lu Feng and the Wu Tang clan are hunting down the Shaolin fighters led by Lo Mang and Chiang Sheng China Town Kid-- Set Durin Modern San Fran-- A Chinese Illegal escapes from police and local gangsters in Hong Kong and runs into an gang war between rival gangs in the China town. Stars all five of the venoms. Masked Avengers-- A Masked Gang is terroizing the locals with the use of their deadly tridents. Chiang Sheng leads a group of men who seek out the mysterious 3 chiefs of this gang. Who are they? Are they in the heroes mists? Another great bloody epic from Chang Cheh. terry the lone wolf Posted June 7, 2006 Author Posted June 7, 2006 (edited) You guys know about master kicker John Liu; he's not a Venom but his movie are action packed. His two of my favorites. Incredible Kung Fu Mission aka Kung Fu Commandos: John Liu trains and leads a group of misfit fighters in a mission to resue a revolutionary from a white-haired warlord. It's like Dirty Dozen meets the Venoms! kungfumission Struggle through Death: John Liu and other peasants are captured to work as slaves in a goldmine. After many failed attempts to escape he must learn the three special kicks to free his friends.strugglethroughdeath Edited June 7, 2006 by terry the lone wolf Quote
