What do you get when you mix old-school anime themes with heavy metal? A bunch of headbanging otaku!

In 1996, veteran J-Metal vocalist Eizo Sakamoto formed Animetal, a tribute band that performs heavy metal covers of anime themes in a non-stop marathon format. An independent self-titled EP release prompted Sony Music Entertainment to sign the band for their first full-length marathon CD.

From the moment you play Animetal Marathon, you'll be in for a non-stop adrenaline rush. Songs like "Gatchaman no Uta," "Tekkaman no Uta," and "Tatakae! Polymar" will have you banging your head all day. And how can you have Animetal without some Super Robot themes? You'll be playing air guitar to the tunes of "Com-Battler V no Theme," "Voltes V no Uta," "Tobe! Gundam," "Mazinger Z" and "Ore wa Great Mazinger." It gets better with classics like "Uchuu Senkan Yamato," "Macross," "Devilman no Uta" and the lone power ballad "Ginga Tetsudou 999."

Animetal Marathon is one of those novelty anime CDs you just have to buy, even if you're not into heavy metal. It's also a blast to play on the road.
