Vermillion21 Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Just a thought: after reviewing the newbie thread, why doesn't Yamato release a 1/48 DYRL Kakizaki VF-1A as a limited edition? Like the original LV? I mean, how hard could it be? Take your VF-1A Hikaru and change its red colour areas to green, right? Since its a limited edition, then collectors would snatch it up in a sec, no? AND They could reissue the 1/48 DYRL VF-1A Max as well!!! Quote
jenius Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I think Yamato is done with Limited Versions... there's not as much potential for profit there I suppose. They have plenty of other opportunities for limited versions too. Max TV 1A, Hayao TV 1A, Alaska Base Green, VF-1J CF, and I think skull squadron had a green VF similar to Kakizake's DYRL scheme during the reconstruction period. I'm probably missing a couple but there are certainly more paintjobs from the actual shows they could be opting for rather than camo, "stealth", and the Low Vis we already have. Basically, it appears they have determined that, of the remaining canon paintjobs available, newer paint jobs of their own design would be more popular. Quote

myk Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 (edited) I "might" consider an Angel Bird's scheme but that would be it, as the VF-1 just doesn't excite anymore. If they want to milk a mold they can do that with the 'Zero, which is a better looking variable fighter that's also a fresh design... Edited May 28, 2006 by myk Quote

It's like a eight hour drive to get to San Diego but rest assured I'm on my way to kick your as s . Okay, maybe not, but did you just diss the VF-1? You're lucky I'm not a character in one of the gospels 'cause otherwise I'd be smiting you. Quote
Vermillion21 Posted May 28, 2006 Author Posted May 28, 2006 Possibly "Max TV 1A, Hayao TV 1A" - I was never impressed with these paint schemes. I think Toynami's MPC #2 was the same as a Hayao TV 1A, and it looks crappy in fighter mode!! White, with a tan brown trim? Meh. No thanks. Quote

I hope they just do ones that are a bit more in keeping with the Macross flavor. The camo versions are o.k( I lovre the VF1J stealth with FP) but I`d rather see something more like the military ones that have been custom made and posted here on M.W. Yamato could do good if they took a look at what the end users are doing for themselves. Edited May 28, 2006 by big F Quote

Vermillion21 Posted May 29, 2006 Author Posted May 29, 2006 What ever you wish, Yamato will do the opposite. 403375[/snapback] I just want them to re-issue the DYRL 1/48 Max VF-1A ..... please! Quote
Veritas Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 You know what might be worth another look for Yamato is perhaps releasing a VF-1 in colors similiar to the Meteor Busters limited edition. I'd def. buy two or three of those beauties. Quote
kensei Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Angel Birds. Don't care if they look like Japanese Schoolgirls when in Battroid mode, they were in the series so I want them. Quote
Vermillion21 Posted May 31, 2006 Author Posted May 31, 2006 Sorry if this is a dumb question: can someone post a pic or link to what the a) Minmay Guard; and b) Angel Bird paint schemes look like? Quote

There's alot of Minmay Guard Customs under the 1/48 Customs tab, in the Toys section on the front page. When you get a chance swing by the Customs section to get a better idea of these color schemes and to admire everyone's else hard work. Edited May 31, 2006 by Veritas Quote

Mucho appreciated!! So were these paint schemes in one of the Macross sequels? I think I've seen all of 'em with the exception of Macross 7. Or are they based on model kits?? Will check out the customs section of MW ..... Thanks again!! Quote
Veritas Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 (edited) Not a problem mate. You know i'm not a real expert on either of those paint schemes, but i'm pretty sure they both originated as model kits and they never made an apperance in any of the official series. I could be wrong though, i've only seen the Original tv series (long time ago), DYRL, Plus and Zero... so don't quote me on that heh. Edited May 31, 2006 by Veritas Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 (edited) The angel birds are in the first ep at the flight show aren't they? I wonder if the aerobatic valkyrie pilots themselves dressed up as school girls in keeping with the theme? Edited May 31, 2006 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker Quote
Chet Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 How about that Alaska Base scheme I keep reading about? Has anyone ever done a custom of that? I don't remember it from the series. Quote
Die, Alien Scum! Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 (edited) I think the Alaska Base valks had the same paint scheme as Max and Kakizaki, only with dark green instead of blue or tan. They're shown so briefly that I don't really remember for sure. Edited May 31, 2006 by Die, Alien Scum! Quote
