promethuem5 Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Yeah, let us see! I wanna know how it installs and how it fixes bricked PSPs... Quote
jwinges Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 www.PS2NFO.com scan down and you'll see the story on undulated platinum Basically the chip puts a second flash firmware on your system. THis can be used to play games, watch UMD's from other regions and all the other stuff normal modchips do. Because it is a second firmware source a broken PSP can use it to work again even though the original flash is messed up. (I guess a lot of people turned their PSPs into bricks trying to downgrade them.) Instellation: I read that you have to replace a couple of the original wires but other than that it just snaps in. Gaijin Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 What else would it do? I thought that the games worked region free....? 403370 The movie region thing is about the only thing hasn't been cracked...until now I guess. Quote
promethuem5 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Wait, so, really really stupid question....if I bought a Japanese released game, would it play on my PSP? Quote
Gaijin Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Wait, so, really really stupid question....if I bought a Japanese released game, would it play on my PSP? 403878 Yes, games have no region coding. Quote
jwinges Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Here's something else thats pretty cool for all you 1.5 users. A homebrew web browser called Links that IMO is better than sony's http://www.ps2nfo.com/modules.php?name=Dow...article&id=1076 Move curser with the stick Scroll by holding L and hitting up or down on pad Hit start to bring up keyboard When keyboard is up use the shoulder buttons to open the num pad or capital letters. promethuem5 Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 I happen to like Sony's browser...I just wish you could drag and select text to copy links that aren't hypertexted... Quote
kyatsu Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 hey UN Spacy, what firmware do you have on your PSP? kyasu Quote
UN Spacy Posted May 31, 2006 Author Posted May 31, 2006 Mine's v2.7 but I won't have my PSP for much longer. Due to the amount of dust collecting on her I've decided to give her a better home. Quote
UN Spacy Posted May 31, 2006 Author Posted May 31, 2006 how come you getting rid of your psp? kyasu 403968 I wasn't playing my PSP that much in the past few months. Now that I picked up a DS that time has become even smaller. Quote

Now that I picked up a DS that time has become even smaller. 403970 yeah I agree with you on this one UN Spacy...I've been playing nothing but homebrew on my PSP...I might keep it if there's a game worth getting but other than that...it's as good as a doorstop...I'm gonna end up getting a DS also...a DS Lite Quote
yellowlightman Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Considering the list of PSP games available that I'd actually want to play, emulation would be my primary reason for getting one. 403424 Just buy a GP2X then. Quote
Jolly Rogers Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Is there any kind of emulator / software out there that allows UMD playback on a Windows PC? Quote
eugimon Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Is there any kind of emulator / software out there that allows UMD playback on a Windows PC? 404221 That would be a trick to do, you would need to get the PSP to output the video data via USB or use that TV attachment thing and have a video in on your PCs video card. too much work in my opinion, better off going the other direction and burning a DVD to your memory stick Quote
promethuem5 Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Seems awfully complicated...altho playing games on your computer monitor might be neat once or twice. Quote
Jolly Rogers Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 The only reason I asked was because there's a UMD title that was released on UMD only and I didn't want to buy a PSP just to be able to watch it. Quote

yellowlightman Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 maybe it's porn? 404288 That's what I assumed. Quote
promethuem5 Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 But it says in the manual that Sony wouldn't endorse any A/O rated games or adult material UMDs.... so how would one get released? Quote
yellowlightman Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 But it says in the manual that Sony wouldn't endorse any A/O rated games or adult material UMDs.... so how would one get released? 404302 A number were released in Japan. Quote
eugimon Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Porn videos or games? 404316 porn videos. Sony won't produce them, but they won't stop other companies from producing it. Quote
promethuem5 Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 So Sony released how to make UMDs? I thought that only Sony could make them for some reason... guess I'm an idiot then. Quote
Gaijin Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 (edited) There is one adult UMD that was blessed with the OK from Sony in the US that I know of. Edited June 1, 2006 by Gaijin Quote

Supposedly it looks pretty good when blown up on a plasma or LCD tv. The attachment sells for about $34 Quote
