macrossnake Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Just watch the Caprica. Although I am never be a big fan of BSG, I like this first ep of Caprica very much. Quote
Duke Togo Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I liked it enough to be interested in where they are going with it. Quote
Ghost Train Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 The best part about the premiere was the cougar-licious head-mistress/sister/principal or whatever of Zoe's school... hmm... milfy. Quote
Gaijin Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 They fixed the line about the human brain containing x amount of info. Thank goodness. Quote
505thAirborne Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Thought it was great where the Term CYLON comes from, at least from the Caprica/Graystones view point. And the phrase "By your Command", loved it!! Quote
miles316 Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 In the preview for the season was that a blimp or some kind of prototype Battlestar? Quote
505thAirborne Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 In the preview for the season was that a blimp or some kind of prototype Battlestar? Looks like some type of transport, hopefully we get a good look at in the next episodes! Quote
EXO Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Finally saw it... it was really good. It's not BSG but I think it's better that way. Quote
Ghost Train Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) Perhaps a third series will be made set during the First Cylon-Human war, I don't think Caprica is the right forum for that. Also, I can't believe that kid grows up to be the Admiral Adama - he's so attached to grandma . Edited January 24, 2010 by Ghost Train Quote
Einherjar Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 For anyone with a PS3, the first hour of the pilot is available free from the Playstation Store, TV Shows>Free Shows. Quote

Ghost Train Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) Cylon kills grandma... Adama's tauran side comes out! Problem solved. What exactly is "tauran side" coming out? Is that like he starts talking with a heavy Italian accent and be like, "Capiche! Fugedabouit! Spaghetti mama mia! " Edited January 25, 2010 by Ghost Train Quote
RedWolf Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Apparently Tauron is Latin. Capricans are Greeks while Taurons are Romans. This is not to say there is only polytheism in the Colonies. nBSG stated there are followers of Mithras which are some what tolerated. Also there could be a Scandinavian or Viking culture somewhere with naming Ragnar and Valkyrie. It is the followers of the One that is persecuted and the Capricans were weary of. Then again Capricans are portrayed as off world racists. From the minister of defense to Tamara Adama. Quote
Duke Togo Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Apparently Tauron is Latin. Capricans are Greeks while Taurons are Romans. Taurons came off as some sort of Sicilian/Aztec cross. Quote
RedWolf Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Taurons came off as some sort of Sicilian/Aztec cross. I mean Taurons literally speak Latin. Taurons refer to the Roman versions of the gods. Sam swore by the name of Mars that he and the Ha'la'tha would avenge Joseph's wife and daughter deaths if he gives the word. Which is interesting in the Caprican patheon Aurora is part of the big 12 gods. Aurora isn't a Greek deity but a Roman one. The composition of the Colonial gods is different from the Greek pantheon of 12 but only Aurora , Starbuck's patron god, is a Roman god. Well the architectural Aztecs with pyramids are the Virgons. Seen in The Plan. Quote
Kelsain Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I just got to watch this yesterday, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Not only are we getting back story of the colonies before the Cylon War & the genesis of the Cylons themselves, but also the beginnings of Centurion independence and their understanding of religion. It also seems to be getting at the origins of Cylon projection and resurrection. Most importantly, its still dealing with the central tenets of BSG: What it means to be human, and how desperation can lead to the best and worst in "people." Very impressed, not what I was expecting. DVR already set for next week... Quote
505thAirborne Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 All new episode tonight, Can't wait!!!! Quote
big F Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Oh I missed this one startying up. better fire up the bittorrent machine. It will be ages till we get it in the U.K and even then it will be on SKY or cable Quote
Ghost Train Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 This was a so so episode, the bit about Cylon-Zoe chopping the guy's finger off was a bit predictable - but now we can see the roots of the Cylon rebellion! I think the best part of the series thus far is still to illustrate the world of Caprica itself in such unique and great detail.... did Joseph's brother walk right into Chinatown for his protection duties ? RedWolf Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Zoe's mom is an idiot. ... Zoe's mother is an idiot I think I heard single line of thought across the boards of MW and Space Battles. Quote

505thAirborne Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 When your in a crowd of mourners and standing at a podium, do not blurt out " My daughter did it!".... the crowd may turn on you. Honestly, I like Caprica and look forward to next Fridays episode!! Quote
azrael Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Zoe's mom is an idiot. ... Zoe's mother is an idiot +1. I know you're probably in shock over your daughter's death and finding out she had another life away from you, but maybe as a medical professional, you should realize seeking help might be a better solution than "that". *points at angry mob* Quote
RedWolf Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I like Serge. It may not be a Centurion but shows more personality than those walking toasters. Quote
big F Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 BTW, Hulu will have the episodes up 4 days after they air for those who don't want to download the episodes. http://www.hulu.com/caprica Thanks but its U.S only will try it using a U.S based proxy server. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Just google "caprica s01e01" You'll find torrents, megaupload, rapidshare, etc. Plenty of ways to find whatever format you prefer. Quote
Gubaba Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I'm still on the fence about the show...but I'm interested enough to keep watching. And yeah, the Chinese and Greek signs were a little...odd. But hey...I overlooked it when Kara Thrace's mom had a Marlboro cigarette in her ashtray, I guess I can overlook this. Quote
EXO Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Zoe's mom being an idiot kinda shows how big wars are rooted from idiotic arguments (not to be political and staying on track>>>) Zoe's mom public display of ignorance plants the seed that turns teenage rebellion into a righteous cause. While she is annoying as a character, it's very realistic in a way that a lot of cultural disputes stem from a number of people's over-zealousness. Quote
Ghost Train Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 This has probably been discussed in the BSG thread - but is there a possible connection between Daniel Graystone and the Daniel piano playing guy hallucination of Kara Thrace? Starbuck is probably too young to be their daughter, but a grand-daughter perhaps? Quote

505thAirborne Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Unless it happens in Caprica somewhere down the road, who ever the Cylon Daniel was, we may never see what he looked like. A continued mystery. Quote
pondo Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I am sooo hating this show. The only cool thing about it is the cylon and it's got the mind of a 16 year old bad actress Quote
