DHX Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Star Trek Movie Toys wth have they done? in an era where they can get pretty accurate headsculps of characters, those are some NASTY headsculpts right thar. Quote
Fit For Natalie Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 This is Playmates that we're talking about. Their older Star Trek line had huge heads that were too big for their bodies, making them look like Pez Dispensers (Toy Fare in 1999 or so). Quote
DHX Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Playmates?! i thought some one would of had the common decency to take them out back and shoot them by now. Quote
Vostok 7 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Anyone know anything about the new "Star Trek Vehicles" that Hot Wheels is making soon? Supposedly they're 1:50, which I assume means that they are regular cars done up to look like Star Trek ships or something. They just got listed on BBTS so I was wondering what's the dilly-yo. David Hingtgen Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Yup, Playmates---that's all you need to know. Still making toys like it was the 80's... Quote
Vermillion21 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I've seen some of the new ST toys at TRU, specifically the 8 inch figures ... looked meh to me ... Quote
big F Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Yup, Playmates---that's all you need to know. Still making toys like it was the 80's... It's not Oh!! Quote
taksraven Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Don't forget that its only Trek, toy marketing for this franchise has never been that great, has it?? Taksraven Quote
taksraven Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Similar to the last toy post, but that was lacking a look at the new bridge.... http://www.usatoday.com/life/gallery/2008/...64&aid=4083 Taksraven Quote
Vostok 7 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Similar to the last toy post, but that was lacking a look at the new bridge.... http://www.usatoday.com/life/gallery/2008/...64&aid=4083 Taksraven I hate to say it, but the new NCC-1701 looks kinda retcon-tastic. Hopefully it's just the toy that makes it look too bulky. The Refit/-A will always be my favorite of the Enterprises, and the Miranda-class will always be my ultimate favorite ST ship, but it's nice to see they TRIED to keep some original flavor in the new re-design. I mean, after Enterprise, how much worse could the Star Trek franchise get? It can only get better, right? Vostok 7 Quote
VFTF1 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Did this movie even come out? Other than this thread I haven't heard anything about it. And I haven't read anything but the thread title either - just noticed it was supposed to come out in 2008. It's now 2009 and I haven't seen this movie anywhere. How could I have missed it? taksraven Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I don't think that the director was too happy about the film being pushed back. I certainly wasn't, NO good films were released in Australia during the Christmas period (and only a few good ones have come out since). Taksraven Quote
big F Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 May, not sure what day though. Should that be "May"-be Could get pushed back again... you never know. Quote
taksraven Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Should that be "May"-be Could get pushed back again... you never know. That would be a risk. The longer they keep it unreleased, the greater the chance of some bootleg version hitting the net. Taksraven Quote
sharky Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 (edited) wth have they done? in an era where they can get pretty accurate headsculps of characters, those are some NASTY headsculpts right thar. You do realize that these are based on the new movie actors and not TOS. Though the 3 3/4 figures do suck regardless of who they are sculpted after. Why can't Art Asylum continue to do the new movie figures since they are doing everything else? I used to think my Playmates ships were cool, until I got my Art Asylum Enterprise E and TWOK Enterprise. Now I want nothing to do with Playmates Star Trek toys. Mog Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I thought the reason they pushed it back was because Paramount wanted a summer release, to make it a tent/blockbuster release. Regarding ST toys/collectibles, this was always my personal favorite: Don't mess with this tough little ship! Quote

David Hingtgen Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Yup. Every female I know that's seen the trailer or magazine pics of the new Kirk always ask "who's that good-looking guy?" Quote
anime52k8 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 ANOTHER brand new trailer! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMTzoW0J1E8&fmt=18 this looks even more mind numbing than before... god what does this have to do with anything? Quote
Mog Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 this is gonna be badass, unlike some of the better stuff from Star Trek. Edited for accuracy. Quote
uminoken Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Full trailer up Definitely going for the whiz bang space battles of Star Wars and not the semi-capital ship battles of TOS/TNG/DS9. That said I'm sure it will put butts in the seats Quote
Morpheus Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Whats up with Star Trek and exploding bridge consoles...... The new trailer is good, if I want to watch it I must pretend I never watch Star Trek before. Quote
