wolfx Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 It's like a helmet or something. Like a part of his armor that he dons. 396948 Yeap...its a helmet. This was also in the older DW reimagination of Jetfire.
ComicKaze Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 It's like a helmet or something. Like a part of his armor that he dons. 396948 Yeap...its a helmet. This was also in the older DW reimagination of Jetfire. 396964 Oh, so basically the VF-1S style helmet is actually part of the "Fast Pack" red armor haha. That's interesting. It's Cartoon Skyfire but with armor that makes him look like the 1/55 toy.
Veritas Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 It's like a helmet or something. Like a part of his armor that he dons. 396948 Yeap...its a helmet. This was also in the older DW reimagination of Jetfire. 396964 Yeah i remember his first apperance in the DW Series. That was just pure genius IMO, it bridged the gap between Skyfire and Jetfire to make him one character. The great art by Don F. helped too.
Fit For Natalie Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Its also a reasonable explanation to why he had that face in the first place - aside from the current Armadaverse versions of Jetfire, most TFs don't have the VF-1S's distinctly smooth and relatively featurless head with the single visor strip.
cwmodels Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 (edited) Coming soon... Edited May 6, 2006 by cwmodels
Kin Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I saw the toy commercial of Jetfire... so who's got the honor to draw the cellanimation of the "valkirie" for the commercial?
Black Valkyrie Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Coming soon.... 397079 Don`t tell me this is the movie version, if this true then they better cancel the project.
Veritas Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 (edited) Coming soon.... 397079 Don`t tell me this is the movie version, if this true then they better cancel the project. 397100 If that's a true conceptual sketch of the movie version starscream, I really don't know what to say. I wasn't totally expecting them to make the movie versions into live action counterparts of their G1 selves, but i also wasn't expecting this. He looks more like some kind of alien monster than a transforming robot. Edited May 5, 2006 by Veritas
Fit For Natalie Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I was told about the conceptual art and indeed, this is apparently Movie Starscream
Twoducks Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 I was told about the conceptual art and indeed, this is apparently Movie Starscream 397122 Well, that thing sure needs to disguise itself, alien monkeys tend to draw attention. They can take the designs wherever they want (can’t expect alien robots to look very human like), but that Starscream looks more like a grunt. To generic IMO. Maybe the Autobots will be more “friendly†looking for audiences to relate to as opposed to the evil looking bad guys.
eugimon Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 if that is the movie starscream, that is kind of boo...
Fit For Natalie Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Well, its a concept, one out of hundreds, maybe thousands. Even a final design would go through changes during post production.
LORD KUNGFU Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 if that is the movie starscream, that is kind of boo... 397137 Totally!
David Hingtgen Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 And making it a one-of-a-kind jet doesn't exactly go with the "very hidden, very in-disguise" theme the movie's supposed to have. (That's a YF-22, not a F-22)
Fit For Natalie Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Either way, that sort of design is kind of physically impossible to turn into a functional toy, methinks. Hasbro wouldn't let them do that being the license owner and merchandiser
David Hingtgen Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Of course, if they COULD design it, it'd be the greatest, most complex transforming toy of all time.
Fit For Natalie Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 (edited) It would also be incredibly fiddly and unfriendly to just about every potential customer Hasbro has said they are marketing the moving toys in serveral tiers - the young kids (presumebly simpler toys), older kids (toys like we have now) and adult collectors (alternators-type). I have now been told this is not one of the original Starscream concept arts, BUT it is based on what has been seen, and is VERY close to the real one. Just not drawn as well. So yeah, its fan art of a concept. Edited May 6, 2006 by Fit For Natalie
Fit For Natalie Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Coming soon... 397079 Why did you change the uploaded pic?
ComicKaze Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Looks like the artists at Hasbro USA that came up with the crab designs in Beast Machines are doing this... sigh. Why can't they just farm all the robot designs to Takara and then have the story written around that?
promethuem5 Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Well, that pretty much blows from here...so much for Starscream looking like the evil behind the scenes traiterous mastermind... instead we get airplane monkeybot
Veritas Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 (edited) This looks like a pretty outstanding deal if you don't already own an MP Convoy or just want an extra one for that matter: MP-01 Convoy + MP-03 Starscream Combo Deal Edited May 7, 2006 by Veritas
HoveringCheesecake Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 (edited) The only problem is that when I ordered my Cannon Fodder 1/48 from action-hq the shipping took forever (around 2 weeks). I'll think about it, but only because it'll save me $50. Edited May 7, 2006 by meh_cd
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 (edited) That's why I like machine transformers unless the animals play a specialist role. (ie something like scout in a jungle protecting a hidden base? A think a robot gorilla would fit here). The insecticons are a good example: I like that they were mainly a wrecking crew but weak overall. The whole theme of bugs/termites/locusts/pest destroying and eating valuable infrastructure/robot food source sounds threatening. Animals < machines still imo. Edited May 7, 2006 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker
David Hingtgen Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Quick question: Is there a list somewhere of everyone who's used Megatron in gun mode? Surely some fan's come up with one, but I couldn't find it. I ask because I know both Starscream and Skywarp have done it several times, and it'd be an obvious accessory for MP Starscream--but as I plan to get MP Thundercracker, I'd like to know if he's ever done it. (As they'll likely include the same accessories for all 3 regardless---except maybe the crown, that'd be really pointless for anyone but SS)
Black Valkyrie Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I know what was I thinking, that the TFs are alien lifeforms that posses these machine and transform into there original looks but in robot form

As for a resource for information like this, the only thing i can think of is seibertron.com. I could have swore they had more comprehensive lists of all the characters before, but it still might be worth checking out as a long shot.

I'm rather annoyed since that second one looks even more amatuerish which leads me to believe this is a hoax.

kensei Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Those comics are cool. Is there anyway i can get the bundle of all the issues at once? I heard that Dreamwave kicked the bucket somtime ago, wondering if it was still easy to get the comics.
reddsun1 Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I went back and skimmed earlier posts, but didn't notice this: anybody else seen this or other screen test footage of upcoming TF movie?
reddsun1 Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 This ought to be good for some trips down memory lane: http://youtube.com/watch?v=SSOl1JVs7es&search=TRANSFORMERS The entire TRANSFORMERS movie, online. Screw this upcoming live-action crap fest--gimme straight old skool!
Kin Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Wow.. it says "diecast" on the box. Is that 100% real? Heavy and lethal enough to throw towards someones face?
