Chas Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 O.K. Quick question. what do I use to thin Tamiya putty (basic) I was thinking of using isopropyl alchohol, but I thought before I tired I'd ask here. So what do you floks use? Quote
specr0101 Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Try using the Tamiya liquid cement. It works for me but be careful because it is a solvent and it will start to dissolve the plastic(Globs of the putty will do the same). Use Mr. Surfacer if you need a thinner putty. Quote
Sdf-1 Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 How about Mr.dissolved putty? I have a bottle of that also. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Mr Color thinner might work---I think I read something that mixing Mr Color Thinner and Tamiya putty is basically home-made not-so-fine-grained Mr Surfacer. Quote

I had hoped I could avoid the stonger solvents but I guess I'll give it a try. Quote
