mikeszekely Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 The Gundam Blu-ray is pricey, but not as bad as I expected. I expect I'll bite. Kinda wish they'd just double the price and crammed the whole series into one box, though. Quote

anime52k8 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Quest paraya a is the worst character ever, period. Rain is still the hotness though so at least they got that right. Quote
mikeszekely Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Lose Emary and Raraiya, replace with Rinko Iori and Lunamaria Hawke. Aside from Flay not being on it, and Quess not ranking higher, second list is pretty good. I kinda sorta like Haman, though. Quote
Marzan Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Haman in a worst character poll?? She's friggin' awesome and has that cool voice by Yoshiko Sakakibara. Unless of course they're only referring to her part in ZZ as opposed to Zeta. Quote
areaseven Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Who would you put in your Top 10 Gundam Waifu and Top 10 Worst Gundam Female Characters list? Quote
mikeszekely Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Maybe not in the exact order, but... Who would you put in your Top 10 Gundam Waifu 1. Minerva Hawke 2. Rinko Iori 3. Mileina Vashti 4. Emma Sheen 5. Rain Mikamura 6. Manny Ambassada 7. Christina Sierra 8. Roux Rouka 9. Sayla Mass 10. Mineva Lao Zabi and Top 10 Worst Gundam Female Characters list? 1. Quess Paraya 2. Flay Allster 3. Relena Darlian Peacecraft 4. Lacus Clyne 5. Stella Loussier 6. Elpeo Ple 7. Chara Soon 8. Kycilia Zabi 9. Nena Trinity 10. Natarle Badgiruel ...I could keep going. The various Gundam series are chock full of crappy female characters. And I don't mean that as in "bad waifu material," I mean that as whiny, weak, conniving, fickle, weak-willed plot devices that are often victims or spend the majority of the series pining after the protagonist. SchizophrenicMC Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 There's a very Hiroyuki Sawano quality to it, but fair enough. I don't think there's ever been a Gundam series without good music. Quote

mikeszekely Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 That more than anything else convinced me that Unicorn was trying to position itself as the "grand finale" to the main Universal Century story that started in First Gundam... Yeah, until the next one. I mean, the grand finale was supposed to be CCA... they even killed Amuro and Char! But the conflict between the Federation and Zeon remains extremely popular with fans in a way that, say, the League Militaire vs Zanscare or some other Earth-based faction vs some other colony-based faction never seems to be. So in a few years, after a few flashy shows that rehash the same old themes and don't really bring anything new besides more model kits we'll probably get an OVA set in UC 0105 about some other Zeon remnant's plan to strike a blow for Spacenoids against a lazy and corrupt Federation. Quote
Sandman Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Yeah it's too bad they closed the door on that conflict with F91 and further UC shows. The Zeon./federation conflict is one of my favorite things about Gundam. Quote
areaseven Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 For the most part, F91 is probably the most forgettable storyline in the animated UC timeline. The erratic pacing and medium-grade animation are evidence that it was originally planned to be a TV series. Also, while other Gundam pilots have their own personalities, Seabook has zero. He's just there as the Gundam pilot. And the English dub doesn't make matters any better, as he's the same voice as Shiro in 08th MS Team. Oh yeah, did they change the sound effects? Quote
Vifam7 Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Gundam F91 is one of my favorites. While I'll agree that Seabook's character is under-developed, at least he's not whiny and annoying. He's a generally likeable character IMO. I disagree that the animation is medium quality. IMHO, it sports fabulous high quality old school animation. Just look at the amount of detail they put in, how well things are painted, and how things are actually moving in each scene. It's a shame that it was only a movie. I think the story could've been made into a fantastic 13 episode OAV series. Quote

Just look at how often the "F" and "91" markings on the F91's shoulders disappear and reappear between scenes. Quote
Gubaba Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I think most of the unused (and some of the used) ideas in F91 became Victory. Quote
Keith Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 F91 Looks amazing on Blu-Ray, and we at somepoint need a Crossbone OVA. Quote
Hikuro Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Actually I think the f91 animation is higher quality than CCA. Story was lacking along with pacing and development. But this is a guilty pleasure movie I like to watch Quote
mikeszekely Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I think that F91 is a slog to sit through, especially the first half. The film's saving grace may be that the Gundam F91 is a pretty slick design, much better than Victory or V2. But heck yes do we need an animated Crossbone. Heck, I'd like to see a full 50-episode run, split into two seasons ala 00. Do Crossbone for the first season, and Steel 7 for season 2. Quote

Do Crossbone for the first season, and Steel 7 for season 2. This please, though I think steel 7 is a bit too short for a 25 ep run. Maybe give 35 eps to the main story and some of the side stories, then finish up the last 15 with steel 7. Quote
Beltane70 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I'm still holding onto the hope that someday, Gaia Gear will be animated. Quote
