cube Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 got bored last night and put these suckers together...fygar, and a super mario set is in the works, but I'll need more pieces. designed pixel for pixel off the original arcade graphics enjoy:) Quote
zeo-mare Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 cool, when you say fygar do you mean Rygar? there is also some others like Xevious as well, i would love some Mega man and castlevania ones myself. chris Quote
JB0 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 You shold make one of him going all bicycle-pump on your MPCs. Quote
cube Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 naw, fygar, not rygar...he's the green dragon dude from dig dug any of the old game graphics are pretty easy to do though...I figure a nice mario setup, a pacman, and maybe a zelda would finish off the display nicely Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Nice job Cube!! Haven't seen you around these parts in a while. How's it going? Quote
eugimon Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 sweet, dig dug has always been one of my favorite games... legos are great for capturing that pixelated nostalgia! Quote
cube Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 Nice job Cube!!Haven't seen you around these parts in a while. How's it going? 382830 thanks yea, i havent been posting here much...busy with work and whatnot (check out my site if you're bored: Mobius Designs ). I still pop in here occasionally to check on new stuff..the kaiyodo revoltechs have me coming here now, and the masterpiece starscream will probably keep me comin back for a while (plus I'm in the market for some cheap rook alpha mps, so I keep an eye on the FS section) How are your customs coming? I'm still waiting on the pix and yea, legos are perfect for the pixelated look Quote
myk Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 That is really cool. I realized how cool they were after I got over your avatar... Quote
cube Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 That is really cool. I realized how cool they were after I got over your avatar... 382845 lol, the gif version is better, but this site doesn't allow gif avs... Quote
Guppy Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I was bored and checked your site. VERY cool! Make one for ME too! Quote
Axelay Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Awesome! I still love both Dig Dug and Legos to this day. I would have never thought that Legos would lend themselves so well to old school sprites like these, but this is perfect. Quote
cube Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 I was bored and checked your site. VERY cool! Make one for ME too! 382879 lol, you got it. Glad you liked it...im pretty happy with the way it turned out Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 (edited) Nice classic game characters, is it possible to make the Vic-Viper or Simon Belmont ... just asking. Edited March 22, 2006 by Black Valkyrie Quote
Guppy Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 wow I like that very cool. 382984 LOL, Solscud just read your sig. I will have to start insulting more MW'ers to see how many more sigs I can get on! Quote
bigkid24 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Sweet! At first I thought they were the little Super Mario pixel toys, but these are much cooler. I think the 3D versions are a nice touch. Quote
cube Posted March 23, 2006 Author Posted March 23, 2006 just finished a 3D blue version of fygar ( the dragon), plus a huge shot of flame. I'll try to take pix later. and yea, with this pixel style, anything should be possible (at least as far as old video games are concered). As you get into the newer systems, the sprites have more pixels, so they will obviously get bigger and more complicated. Simon Belmont, the vic viper, arthur from ghosts n goblins...should all work. BoBe-Patt Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 sweet!! Good job on those! Can't wait to see the rest! Quote
Southpaw Samurai Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Very cool... you should do a classic diorama of Dig Dug in the middle of sadistically pumping up/deflating the last creature who was trying to escape. Sometimes I think Dig Dug may have been the very first video game where you were mercilessly killing and torturing baddies for really no good reason. Most games had you fighting to defend yourself, or at least for vengeance of some past deed or something. Dig Dug was all about someone invading a native people's home territory and committing genocide in a very inhumane way... Quote

DigDug was all about organic gardening. See, our hero COULD have just sprayed pesticides on his vegetabls and called it a day, but instead he went for the chemical-free approach. Quote
cube Posted March 24, 2006 Author Posted March 24, 2006 yea, I'm going to eventually make a 2D version of a pooka getting esploded, but i dont know if i can pull off a 3D version. the angles would make things pretty difficult. and if i owned some property and the ground was infested with 6ft tall fire breathing dragons and goggle monsters, i would totally poke them with a bicycle pump and inflate them til they popped...or id just stab them in the head with a screwdriver like my dad does to moles that tear up his yard Quote

There is no problem that can't be solved with the applicaiton of heavy artillery. Quote
cube Posted March 24, 2006 Author Posted March 24, 2006 exactly! It's like those old redneck dudes that sit on their porches shooting prairie dogs in the head all day. I also keep a giant mallet handy in case evil unicorns invade my castle. Quote
cube Posted March 24, 2006 Author Posted March 24, 2006 FYGAR...in blue unfortunately instead of green, but that can be changed easily enough. and here's the actual sprite, since i don't have the 2D version done yet: Quote
dr_vandermeer Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 HA! These are great. Love the 3D fire effect. They're all very very cool. Quote
MicronianDevil Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 (edited) LOL! Those are too cool. Great job. Edited March 24, 2006 by MicronianDevil Quote
