terry the lone wolf Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I hope the third season doesn't bore the crap out of me. 381993 Sometimes GITS can be little long winded but the action scenes(when it finally gets there) and the animation is top notch! Quote
Sdf-1 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 (edited) The chat room episode was in the first season. Yeah, pretty boring if it goes to full episodes of that stuff. If it's in good balance it's ok, and may be quite interesting if written well. Edited March 20, 2006 by Sdf-1 Quote
EXO Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 The first season didn't bore me... the second season was kinda slow... I still need to finish it. Quote
Panon Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 This isn't a third season - Solid State Society is a 100 minute movie. Quote
Panon Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Really??? Are you absolutely sure??? 382021 2006-03-17 entry at http://www.bandaivisual.co.jp/flash/ Original movie length feature "Ghost in the Shell Solid Standalone Complex Solid State Society" (scheduled to be 100 minutes) now in production, expected to be compeleted Summer 2006. I still need to finish it. 382006 No poo you need to finish it. I'm just going to start IMing you spoilers just to piss you off. Anyway, this is all kinds of good news. My faith in modern anime has been (temporarily) restored. Quote
Jawjaw Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Gosh.. I remeber one episode, last season (or was it the first season, I don't remember), it was all in a virtual chat room. The idea was unique but devoting a whole TV episode was a poor editing choice IMO. The political intruige is interesting but when it reaches the point of moral issues of what is a soul and can a machine have a soul is a bit redundant. Yeah, I remember that episode. I almost gave up watching the series because it was getting boring and that was just too much. Quote
robokochan Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 There will be a third Season TV series. It is already slated for TV airing. Cool that they are doing a movie as well. Rob Quote

robokochan Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Evidently....I really didn't know about the movie. But I had heard about the TV series over a month ago. A few of my friends who are sculptors here have been hired to make more Gashapon Figures for it, so they got the info about it..... Unless the TV series has been compleely scrapped and turned into a movie...which I doubt.... Quote

Hikuro Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Wow friend of mine at work and I were discussing Season 1 and 2 and I told him they weren't going to do a Third Season anymore, but now I can let him know wedensday when I go back to work that idea got dropped and now they are doing a third season. Beltane70 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I'll try to get some pictures of this when I visit the TAF on the 25th! Quote
Mr March Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I am so far behind on this series is tragic. I still only own first 5 DVDs of first season. I gotta get around to seeing more soon, otherwise I'll miss the whole series Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I still haven't seen the second season. Sh!t must catch up. Quote
Guppy Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I can't wait to see this advertised in the movie section of the newspaper: "Ghost in the Shell 3: Standalone Complex: Solid State Society" They will go broke from taking out an ad space to fit it all in. And the opening credits will run for an extra 5 minutes. Quote
Guest Bromgrev Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Excellent news, especially if it means season 1 will finally get cheap enough for me to buy it! Quote
Graham Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Am I the only one who thinks there's something vaguely obscene sounding about the name 'GITS SAC'. Or do I just have a dirty mind? Graham Quote

Radd Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 You know, the chatroom episode mentioned towards the beginning of the thread was actually one of my favourite episodes. Quote

JELEINEN Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 (edited) Gosh.. Techno babble was at a tolerble minimum and yeah, when the action do arrive is worth waiting for but in short snippets. 382000 Actually, that episode is lauded by many as being very well executed. One of the characteristics of science fiction is that it usually requires a large amount of exposition. That episode manages to do a lot of the exposition in a unique and entertaining way. If you're looking for action porn, you probably shouldn't have bothered with GitS in the first place. Edited March 21, 2006 by JELEINEN Quote
UN Spacy Posted March 21, 2006 Author Posted March 21, 2006 Looks like it WILL be a movie. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=8588 The 100-minute (tentative running time) movie takes place in 2034, two years after the refugee riot incident. A significantly larger Section 9, with over 20 new officers, investigates terrorist actions related to a wizard-like hacker “Kugutsu Mawashi.†Quote
Fortress_Maximus Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 A third movie is cool, actually prefer the detailed character designs and higher attention to animation. If all goes well, they will probably do a third SAC after the movie. We just have to remain patient. Quote
Garou Kuroryuu Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 WOW!!!! COOL!!!!! I like GitS a lot!, and SAC series is very cool as well. If it's either a movie or a TV series, I'll sure get this "third" stuff. But I first have to finish watching 2nd GiG Quote
UN Spacy Posted March 26, 2006 Author Posted March 26, 2006 Danny Choo has some GREAT coverage of the GITS:SAC:SSS booth from the Japan Anime Fair 2006. Including pics of the lineart, figures, and even the promo video. Check it ou HERE. Quote
bsu legato Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Well that explains a lot. Solid State Society is a movie/OVA version of 2nd Gig. Bummer. All those figures and assorted other swag look like must-have though. Quote
Guppy Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I'm watching GITS 2nd gig at the moment and I swear Motoko got a boob job after series 1! They're twice as big now. Quote

Including pics of the lineart, figures, and even the promo video.Check it out HERE. 384270 I'm a big fan of the original GitS manga and lukewarm about the two movies. Haven't seen SAC yet. I'm sure one of these days. But just wondering, is the below from a scene in SAC? The origami instantly reminded me of Blade Runner. Quote
eugimon Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Nice illustration! The scene isn't out of of SAC but it does reference an episode from the second season where we learn a little about the major and how she became a cyborg. Quote
Beltane70 Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I saw the booth at the Tokyo International Anime Fair on Sunday. Sadly, they weren't allowing photos, but I was very impressed by what I saw! The line art for it was simply amazing, as was the little bit of footage they managed to show. The booth was topped by an awesome tachikoma model. Quote
