evirus Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 im not nearly as good in graphics as most people are.... id like someone to devlop a graphics set for SE4, theres instructions on this site: http://www.malfador.com/se4race.html would be kind of a big project though, easy maybe because its just image files mostly... i count the fallowing around 35 different units (of which there is one fighter group graphic, and 3 individual fighter graphics; small, medium, and large fighters. the group graphic is for the "solar system view" and the individual fighter graphics are for the combat map that you use during all attacks.) also aside from the fighters theres 8 standard combat ships 3 carrier class ships 3 non-movable "space stations" 1 colony ship 3 transport ships 1 satellite 1 Land Mine 3 land troops(ground units) 3 weapons platforms 1 drone 1 Fleet 1 mine group 1 satellite group theres also 6 "logos" a large, small, and tiny race portrait a 6 frame explosion and shield animation as for game mechanics be aware that the increasing size of ships is due to the fact that, in the game you can equip the ships with different components each having their own mass and you can not exceed the mass of the ships. the difference between the normal ships and carriers, for example, is you can obtain a carrier with high mass limits before you can a normal ship, but you are limited to specific conditions, like 50% of the carrier's mass must be made up of fighter bays which allow it to store luanch and recover fighters, normal ships dont contain such strict limitations(they only require the basic systems needed by all ships; bridge, life support system, and crew quarters) the site explains what to do graphics wise pretty well i think.... so any takers? evirus Posted April 17, 2006 Author Posted April 17, 2006 (edited) just for proof of concept(getting it to work) i desided to quickly mod in a valk with fast packs as the escort class ship, as you can see here most units have two images one portrait(the big pic on the right side) and a unit graphic, the one with the yellow marks around it(showing its selected) the graphics for this game are realy simple so all i would be dealing with is bitmap images, i kinda did a rough job on this anyways just using paintbrush and shrinking the source image so it fits ontop of the orignal graphic. again all i need is images of what you guys think would be good fits for the ships, one portrait and a unit graphic that must be in the top down prospective as you can see from the two units on the screen shot and like that list i intend for the valks to be fighters, i only placed one in as an escort because its the first ship available in the game so it was the quickest way to see if did it right UPDATE: ok now, im starting to actualy set up the stuff, I STILL NEED SOURCE IMAGES, if you look up a few posts in my topic i have a list of graphics and breif explination of game mechanics. sofar i have the leader portrait done, it is Gloval, i also added a macross logo and after i get some source images from the macross arcade game ill do the fighters Edited April 18, 2006 by evirus Quote
evirus Posted April 28, 2006 Author Posted April 28, 2006 hmmmm over 300 views and not a word form anyone except for me and lestat, tsk tsk anyways, status report, ill just post the ship and portrait folders on here sence they are just images, ill circle in red what i still need to change these are the ships, youll actualy see these in the game moving around and stuff(their static so the only thing youll see change is the direction its facing, all races in the game have this graphical "appeal") youll notice that the fighters is lifted from the macross arcade game, the cruiser's from the macross plus game, and the rest mostly from the DYRL mod for homeworld made by lestat and his "team" some of them are a little dark, if anyone would like to give me a better source image ill gladly use it(it just has to show a view facing straght down onto the unit) these are the portraits, desplayed in the unit information screens, these dont flip around and stuff like the ships do so i can use any type of picture i want, it just looks more standard in game if you give it a black background, as you can see i still need a lot of these as well as far as what im planning on using... the dreadnought, largest ship, id like to use the macross or something similar carriers, im pretty much set on the two ARMDs i still need one more unit though because the size difference in the three units are light normal and heavy colonyship, i was thinking of using one of the megaroads but i couldnt find a good top down view satillites ill probably just use the ones seen in macross plus mines i still gotta figure out troops and weapons platforms, probably going to be destroids and stuff like that im thinking of using images from macross 2 and gundam 0080 for the space stations(all three will be the mined out astroid look, realy im resistant to using any gundam stuff, but the stations might be obscure enough for me to get away with, if i realy wanted to id use some gundam ships to replace some of the stuff i cant find, but then it wouldnt be a macross mod would it) Quote
