Seven Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Rest in peace. His character's cussing makes my Xmas that much better every year. I'm the only one that I know that can sit through TNT's whole Christmas Story marathon. Quote
Apollo Leader Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 "You'll shoot your eye out, kid!" Since he was in his early 80's, that means he was like about 60 years old playing Ralphie's dad! RIP Quote
agr33 Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I've always loved that movie, i still love that movie! i especially loved the dad in the movie because he is exactly like my old man! he will be surely missed R.i.P Quote
Solscud007 Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 kinda old news. this was on yesterday 5:45 pm MSNBC "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" he talked with TV Guide Chief Craig Tomashoff about his role as the father in Chirstmas Story and As the Night Stalker. McGavin chose the suits himself for Night stalker. Quote
reddsun1 Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Agent ONE, you might remember McGavin? He played Arnie's pal "Chief Harry Shannon" in Raw Deal. Yes, it's been a bit of a bummer weekend. First Don Knotts, then Dennis Weaver, then Mr. McGavin. They shall all be missed. I remember them all well from seeing the re-runs of their respective shows as a kid... Quote
Skullsixx Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I will always remember him in "A Christmas Story" and "Billy Madison"... classics!!! RIP. Quote
uminoken Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I'll remember him from all the Kolchak reruns - he even guest starred on the X-Files, MillenniuM as Frank's dad and had a cameo in the new Night Stalker series. Bummer of a year with great dead actors Quote
