areaseven Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 (edited) Just what we need: another sci-fi action flick with a chick in the lead role. Directed by Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium), Ultraviolet stars Milla Jovovich (does this mean she's dumping Paul W.S. Anderson for Wimmer?) and a bunch of nobodies. Funny thing is that Wimmer directed it with a black eye because he asked Milla to punch him. That could be a good thing or a bad thing. But then again, when was the last time Milla starred in a decent film? Ultraviolet Edited June 7, 2014 by areaseven Quote
myk Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Lol...When are these people going to learn? Secret experiments to develop Super Soldiers that suddenly become loose and volatile? The featured Super Soldier being yet, of course, another girl with crazy moves and lotsa' guns. I'm surprised Uwe Boll isn't behind this... Whatever happened to DOA the movie? Bring it on! Quote

Bring it on! 371409 Its like there trying to put as much action as possible into a movie in a attempt to make a live action anime. As for the DOA movie, I hope it rots somewhere in a pit where no one will ever find it cuz its a waste of film. Quote
areaseven Posted February 18, 2006 Author Posted February 18, 2006 Oh, I forgot to mention... NO SCHWARZENEGGER = NOT A GOOD MOVIE Quote
Sdf-1 Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Whatever happened to DOA the movie? Bring it on! 371409 The beach volleyball version could be okay... Quote
Wesker99 Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I think this will at least look good. I mean it's obviously lacking in the story department, but from what I've seen of the trailer the action sequences seem to be well done if not a little cheesy. When I first head of this a couple years ago, I thought it had something to do with the Ultraviolet mini-series from the UK. That was really well done, too bad they aren't continuing that Quote
Roy Focker Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 But then again, when was the last time Milla starred in a decent film? Zoolander Quote
danth Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 F-ing gay, just like Aeon Flux and Underworld. Of course I thought Blade was gay as well, so it's not just a chick thing. Quote
Beltane70 Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I'll probably see, but only because <illa is in it. If she wasn't, I probably wouldn't bother. Quote
the white drew carey Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Bugger this crap. Go for the real Ultraviolet!!! It may have a shaky start at first, but by the middle of the second episode, you're hooked. I think it's the fifth episode where Idris Elba is locked in a warehouse at sunset with 6 or so "conatiners" which are about to open that had my wife and I on the edge of our seats almost screaming for him to find a way out. It's terribly exciting. Quote
NERV Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 the first i saw of it, i thought it looked lik eshit, but then i saw a really long trailer for it that actually described the plot and looks like it may be decent Quote
Noriko Takaya Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I'm gonna see it, mainly because Milla looks good with that black hair all straight and long... By the way and off topic, but I have to know, what's up with the Terry Schiavo avatar, NERV? Quote
Mr March Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I did see this trailer and it looked awful. I am a fan of Equilibrium however, so I may find myself watching this film. Of course, Jovovich is always easy on the eyes and I gotta say that black hair is really working for me Quote
Duke Togo Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Does this movie even deserve its own thread (let alone being made in the first place)? Quote

By the way and off topic, but I have to know, what's up with the Terry Schiavo avatar, NERV? 371433 because i have the 'no animated avatars' title, i got the idea from this thread: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=17757 "give yourself an avatar of something dead or inactive and see if anyone catches on to the joke." back on the topic, this movie may be something ill see in theaters because the plot seems interesting, and the effects look pretty sweet, i only see movies in theater for effects, no point in seeing a comedy on a giant screen Quote
DatterBoy Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 It might be good, afterall... U L T R A V I O L E N T Quote
yellowlightman Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 At first I got excited because I assumed Milla Jovivich + that guy from Nikita = a Luc Besson movie, but apparently not. Looks more interesting than Aeon Flux, but not by much. Quote
Gaijin Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 (edited) I'll see it. Popcorn flick. At first I thought it was that TV show but, I'll see it anyways. Edited February 19, 2006 by Gaijin Quote
emajnthis Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 i'm a big fan of equilibrium so this movie is a definite for me. Though I'm already not going to attempt to hold it to the equilibrium standards, it'll at least be some decent eye candy. Quote
dr_vandermeer Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I'm so there. I'm a sucker for this stuff. Quote
Sdf-1 Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 "give yourself an avatar of something dead or inactive and see if anyone catches on to the joke." 371437 You should put that in your sig. As for Milla, she seems to look pretty hot in this movie. Might be the only reason to watch it. Quote
Zentrandude Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 (edited) When I first saw the commericals of this movie I thought they came out with resident evil 3. Other than the grunts and the phase shifting thing its almost the same thing but without zombies. Edited February 19, 2006 by Zentrandude Quote
ComicKaze Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Equilibrium made it because it wasn't about the action. It was actually about imagery and content and emotion in an imaginable and purposeful dystopian world. It made it because of Bale also. Aeon Flux and probably Ultra Violent will go back to fancy looking "music-video" type future world with no real purpose except to look shiny - - - and heroine with no real purpose except to look shiny as well. areaseven Posted February 20, 2006 Author Posted February 20, 2006 Well, it looks like Milla's still hooked with Paul W.S. Anderson... Resident Evil: Extinction (2007) Quote

promethuem5 Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Judging by the commercials, this movie looks so incredibly tired and dated and not-cool that it's unbearable to sit thru the commercials. "Oh look, ANOTHER gov't super soldier program... oh look, ANOTHER escaped test subject... oh look, ANOTHER nefarious gov't cover up.... the list is endless" Quote
uminoken Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Yeah, only cause its the guy who did Equilibrium will I see it. I really liked the dramatic plotline and I remember in the commentary that Wimmer wanted the poster to be Bale holding the Prozium pill and not the WOW MATRIX COOL! one that they ended up with. Trailers always put the whiz!bang! action stuff and leave out the plots, so I'm hopin it'll be story-driven action and not just lookie-at-cool-cgi! *crosses fingers* Quote
bsu legato Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 In Wimmer I trust. I'll be there opening night. Quote
Macross73 Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 I might go, but probably not... Its justseems like the same old stuff... Quote
vlenhoff Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 I liked Equilibrium, and I love Milla. I guess I'll go see this movie. I am keeping my expectations very low just to see if I'm surprised. Quote
Wes Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Well, it looks like Milla's still hooked with Paul W.S. Anderson...Resident Evil: Extinction (2007) 371678 I hate them. Quote
Ishimaru Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Well at least its better than AeonGlux in my opinion. Quote
