electric indigo Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 2006 is already a good year! ADF-01 Quote
Spatula Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Only 1/100? Interesting. I've only done about eight or so missions in Ace Combat 5, but I've known about the Falken after reading a lot of discussion about it in various gamefaqs. Too bad they won't re-release EX-4, the Patlabor command car. Now that is something I'd get in a heart beat. Quote
Spatula Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 (edited) The Falken is the secret fighter found in the Playstation 2 game, "Ace Combat 5". I believe the player must destroy the bunker which houses said fighter in order to unlock it for future missions. I guess this is spoiler material, but too late now. Oops. wm cheng Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Oh! MAN! I so want that!! That's great news, it will be to scale with my Yukikaze Bandai stuff, the molding detail is so crisp on those planes. When is it out? Any plans for an X-02? I just finished Ace Combat a few days ago, now I want to get back to earn enough money and obtain the pieces to buy a Falken. I love the aircraft designs! Quote
electric indigo Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 (edited) The Kit is announced for March. Who knows, if we buy enough Falkens, they will release the X-02? -i- rraahhh... Edited January 31, 2006 by electric indigo Quote
promethuem5 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 That's such an odd plane.... in a non-garish red camo scheme of some sort, it's look pretty sweet. Why doesn't it have a canopy tho? Can anyone with the game explain the dotted winows thing? Quote
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Its got a canopy, the canopy is just opaque from the outside, but from the inside you have near 360 vision. Its like the YF-19 cockpit in macross plus, though clearly there were no visible canopies on the bottom of the YF-19's nose, Isamu can still see stuff outside in those areas. Its like a camera system. Quote
Less than Super Ostrich Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Leave it... I've seen better. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 If you want an X-02, you could always buy a YF-23 and modify it. Anyways---the XFA-27 is a far cooler plane. And you can even fight the Falken with it! A REALLY ambitious person could build one from an F-14 kit, as it uses a large amount of the fuselage panel-for-panel. If they're making the ADF-01, they need to make the rival XFA-27. Quote

Is it from Ace Combat oir real? Any pictures? Edited February 2, 2006 by wm cheng Quote
David Hingtgen Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Ace Combat 2. Where the AFD-01/Falken also made its first appearance. The Falken did not premiere in Ace Combat 5, it just became more famous in AC5 because in AC2 it was only an enemy plane (and you couldn't fly it). Pics are few and far between, here's the only one I could find: http://www3.ocn.ne.jp/~tac1991/18.jpg AC2 has a plane viewer in it, so you can look at all the planes up close and move them around, etc. Quote
wm cheng Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Cool! maybe a bit too many wings though... Quote
electric indigo Posted February 2, 2006 Author Posted February 2, 2006 caps from the AC2 model player Quote
David Hingtgen Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 XFA-27 has the same layout as a Super Flanker or F-15ACTIVE. It simply has a cruciform tail (which I am fond of for redundancy/damage reasons) instead of a typical right-angle v.stab/h.stab arrangement. Quote
electric indigo Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 Considering that the length of the X-02 is about 22 m, the Falken will have a decent size even in 1/100. AC2 gives no info on the data, anything from AC5? -i- Quote

Capt Hungry Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 I like the design. Vaguely but not unlike the fighters from Rahxephon. Quote

chrono Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Oh soooooo tell me that's not a scratch build! I soooooo want that one and the F2-C. Quote
electric indigo Posted February 5, 2006 Author Posted February 5, 2006 It's from this site http://ogikimer.hp.infoseek.co.jp Looks like another ominous TAC kit. -i- Quote
electric indigo Posted February 9, 2006 Author Posted February 9, 2006 The Falken is already on "order stop" at HLJ. I hope you all have placed your order... Quote
Spatula Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 (edited) It says "March Release" at this moment for a preorder. The Tachikomas have been placed order stop just very recently. I put in my order for two of them... EDIT: Nevermind, the Tachikoma's are back for Feb restock. Edited February 10, 2006 by Spatula Quote
TSP Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Look at me I'm on Macrossworld. now where are the cyberbrains? Quote
protostar8 Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Does anyone know where to get one of the old X-02 models or how much they usually go for? Quote
kanata67 Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I swear I know that plane design from something besides ace combat. Don't know where though. Oh well. The plane stands out in my meneory, where I saw it does not. Guess the plane was cool and where I saw it was not. kinda similar to the cowboy beebop swordfish... but thats not what I'm thinking of. Quote
chrono Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Yeah I was familiar for me too! I knew it had an X designation but it's been awhile. It's RL parent had to be the X-29 with it's cousin being the SU-37. http://www.centennialofflight.gov/essay/Ev...sweep/Tech9.htm Quote

Phyrox Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 The more I look at it, the more I think this Falken thing looks pretty good backward. Get the stabs out of the way, and do something with the exhaust and you have an interesting airframe...I think I like it better backwards actually. Quote

I would love to get such a plane in 1/72 scale. But sadly they were only produced in 1/144 and 1/100 Quote
electric indigo Posted March 5, 2006 Author Posted March 5, 2006 (edited) ...and didn't look too cool, either. -i- PS another one from Namco's Acecombat site Edited March 7, 2006 by electric indigo Quote
