The more deluded part of my brain would expect it to have knives that shoot out on little springs and are "caught" in the hands by magnets in the palms/knife hilts respectively!

I'll be getting the Proto-Garland for sure as I love the design and was hoping they'd do it.

I got the military colored Garland set on sale at Image anime. It has the upgraded shoulders and looks pretty nice actually. I especially like the military pilot figure and the Yui figures.

Thanks. I think its high time I got one of these and the Military version is the one I'm considering.

E=X would be more complicated though and the arm weapons would be a challenge given that Yamato likes to store the fists in them.

I can't remember exactly how the wepaons go (not got my artimic design works book to hand), I think it's pop up guns in the top half and slide out knives in the bottom half. It's unfair to Yamato really but if it didn't have those I would probably be dissapointed enough to not bother with it.

http://mahq.net/mecha/megazone23/megazone23-3/e-xgarland.htm The hands aren't stored in the arms. They stay out to allow room for the knives and weapon bay.

Ah-ha, I was sure it was possible but couldn't remember what was making me think that. Not having to store the hands makes it's cool little gimmicks all the more plausible.

Cheer for the info. :)

Okay, I've looked into it. Original MZ23 I Garland, while described as a prototype is simple called the "Garland". The military in MZ23 I also has a bike/mecha called the Hargun and their own Garlands in green.

The MZ23 II "hero" Garland is the rebuilt "GR-00X Prototype Garland" - a second improved prototype. The military "hover" variant I was referring to is the GR-002A pictured below. Since it has no wheels it would require a custom base in vehicle mode.

I bought the original Garland. Forewarned by this thread I carefully loosened the shoulder screws before I first transformed it. It's not as crappy as the Escaflowne but not nearly as well designed as the old VF-1.

Yikes. The shoulder problem is still haunting us.

Me still want proto tho. I guess I just have to be carefull.

We do have photos of factory color Garland now. Shogo gets a helmet too (and sticker sheet).

Oh great! Now if I want Shogo's helmet, I will have to buy a whole new ugly a$$ silver Garland. C'mon, you won't find a pimp death on that thing.

Edit: What we really need are some decent after market fully poseable figures. And I mean a Shogo, Yui and Dead Buddy set.

Looks like Shogo is fully poseable now. Too bad it's the "realistic" 80's styled Shogo. It also looks like they salvaged all they could from the first Garland. Bah, it looks good so I'm gonna get it anyway. I'd love to see the robot mode tho'.

Edit: I just took a closer look at Shogo and is the same crappy "one pose only" figure as the previous Garlands.

December we'll have Proto Garland, Motoslave and Mospeada all in 1/15.

Really? Where did you read that Yamato's Motoslave or any of the upcoming Mospeada ride armors will be 1/15 scale too?

EDIT: Found the pic indicating the scale for Megahouse's Mospeada ride armor, but how about the Motoslave?

I have a link to the old motoslave thread below. At the bottom of page there's a quoted article from ToyboxDX. I also recall from some other WF winter reoport that Priss is in Microman size which is about 1/15.

I've always wanted to get one of these ... but after all the broken shoulder issues I've held off. Now these new designs are tempting me once again to purchase a Garland .....
