JetJockey Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I posted pictures of it already in the SDCC 2015 thread....but it was quickly ignored. Chris I saw the Voltron statue but not the other Toynami one. I guess people here aren't crazy about the new toys and stuff at comic con. Quote
spanner Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 That's been my #1 thing since I was like 6. I want a Voltron where the lions don't suck. Having necks is a big part of that. (and being able to sit). Because THIS is the most iconic look for the lions: No previous toy has come anywhere NEAR being able to capture that look. I enjoyed watching Voltron as a kid but all of the toys totally sucked.. Especially the Lions. Quote
JetJockey Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 They call the new one from Toynami the Ultimate Voltron EX. It's still not good enough for me. At this point I don't know why they just didn't make that Jumbo Voltron, which looks like it doesn't transform anyway, anime accurate and then make non-transforming lions that are anime accurate. That Jumbo Voltron looks lazy to me. For the arms it looks like they just removed the lion legs. They could have at least tried to redo it so it looks closer to the anime. Some pictures are here a bit down the page.http://www.mwctoys.com/sdcc2015/sdcc2015-toynami.htm Quote
myk Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 All of those Voltron toys are awful. It's too bad that Go Lion couldn't get the same treatment that the YF-21 finally got a few years ago. I would say that the one Go Lion that's been prohibited from selling (I forget the name), or the earlier MP Voltron are the best toys to date. Oh and what was that porn star-ish Red Riding Hood all about? Quote

Of all those pics the one I want to know more about is the Buck Rogers starfighter. Quote
Phobos Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 That Acid Rain stuff looks interesting. I wonder what it's all about? Quote
EXO Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 It was in the same booth as Moebius Models so it might be the same company... not sure. Quote

I wonder if Voltron just isn't that popular in Japan anymore. You would think a Japanese company would release accurate lions by now. I wonder how well the modern Sideshow Collectibles Voltron statue will sell? There are a lot of modern versions of old animated series that I've seen. There was that Go Lion that isn't called Voltron. Also modern He-Man statues from Pop Culture Shock and Sideshow Collectibles. I guess I would be ok with these different versions if they got the original version right to begin with. I couldn't buy something different when I know that the original is more iconic to me. Quote

Gakken85 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) Most of the stuff we love isn't huge in Japan. That's just how it works haha. Except Transformers I guess. Edited July 28, 2015 by Gakken85 Quote
JetJockey Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 My understanding is neither Golion nor Dairugger XV were ever popular in Japan. Sad, but true. Really? I guess I just assumed Voltron was popular because of the old toy. Most of the stuff we love isn't huge in Japan. That's just how it works haha. Except Transformers I guess. Macross has to be popular in Japan for as long as the series is going. Quote
Gakken85 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Eh. It's a niche there. Frontier is fairly big because it copied a lot of tropes from Eva and such. But it's not as big as other shows I don't think. Quote
Fusion Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 What you guys think about the Alimite DX voltron?? http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TOY10639&mode=retail&utm_source=retail_news&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=BigBadToyStore-Retail&utm_content= Quote

Take into consideration that we've all pretty much given up on a line-art correct rendering of the lions or the combined mode so there you go. And at that price I'd hazard a guess that's one of the better deals on a Voltron toy of recent memory, if not of all time... Quote

EXO Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Another Reboot? http://www.comingsoon.net/tv/news/644473-voltron-and-guillermo-del-toros-trollhunters-series-head-to-netflix or maybe it's just another April Fool's joke like the last one I posted... lol. Quote

McFly!! Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 cool! design looks modernized and more rounded! wonder if any story changes will be made? how could they improve on 'let's mutate a random humanoid character into a colossal beast and see if it can take down that blasted combiner mech'?! lol let's volt in!!! err... UN Spacy Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I'm five episodes into Go-Lion...this is great news. Quote
SuperHobo Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I'm down for a new Voltron series that's well produced and has a good story. Quote

They could make Sven's death trip to the hospital planet have some meaning. Instead of getting wailed on and dropped, he could get captured and turned into a robeast. ... Oooh, he could get brainwashed and replace Yurak partway through. That'd add some melodrama, and a great recurring plot thread, while being completely in character for the franchise. Quote
jenius Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 But Robotech made anime possible! How is this not a Robotech reboot? Quote

M'Kyuun Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 With NY Toy Fair coming up this weekend, perhaps there will be some Year One toys on display. I'm still bummed that the Voltron Force toys were never released...I loved the look of both the individual lions, and their Voltron form. Quote
myk Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Higher cheek bones and more attitude! ATTITUDE!! No token Asian or black team member? No gender swap of at least one character? Where's the fat guy? Why so serious? I'm genuinely disappointed... Quote

myk Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) True. Well, I hope there's at least one occasion where Hiss/Nanny takes Alura over her knee and spanks her ass repeatedly until it's red, while the men stand around in a circle and laugh tauntingly while Alura cries and begs for it to stop, just like they used to do in Voltron/GoLion. I love homages to original works... Edited February 12, 2016 by myk Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Kinda reminds me of 80s Swedish Rock band : Europe. Quote
