the OVA version of El Hazard was the very first anime I ever watched... I'd recommend it.

LoGH is a must.

Lost universe is pretty much Slayers mixed with Starwars. It's not bad and does have a couple of laughs here and there. I like it since I love the Slayers series.

El-Hazard - OVA is a must,, it's just that good, I love those those themes that deals with TIME.

Ruin Explorers - I forgot about it, so it can't be all that great.

LOGH - In my opinion, probably the best Anime ever made, bar none. You watch it not for its graphics, but for the story and the world. It makes Macross look like it was written by a 4 year old with a crayon... and I love macross.

And you must really enjoy the universe and period style combat that it portrays. NOT an easy watch! Not at over 70+ ep's!!
