Hikuro Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 Now, some of you are like me, a Tekkaman fan. I've got Tekkaman Blade II on VHS and DVD......and I got fansubs of Tekkaman Blade, but I'd like to own the DVD box set. So Im' trying to convince my folks on giving me that for Christmas. So does anyone know, cause there are a few different box variations I've seen, which one is actually the best one? I know there's one that has all 49 episodes, and there's one that includes the 38? episodes of the hacked Teknoman series which finished in Australia or the UK wha ever. Chances are, the subs will be hardly comprehensible, but I'd like to know which versions seem superior. Here's a picture of one I did find, 50 bucks seems like a good price for a 49 episode series. Keith Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 I picked up the 7 disc version a while ago, it's good both japanese & australian dub versions on it (i.e. all episodes are there seperately). Problem is, it's only 7 disc's, so everything is really badly compressed (australian dub version won't even play without stuttering). Japanese verison plays fine, but it looks like a 2nd-3rd generation fansub. Quote
Hikuro Posted December 17, 2005 Author Posted December 17, 2005 hmmmmm I see, then if Possible, I guess I wanna stay away from the mixed version. The one I showed said it's a 5 disc set.....just mentioned Japanese with English/Chinese subs which can be turned off. I'm guessing that's more than likely the version I want. Quote
Hikuro Posted December 17, 2005 Author Posted December 17, 2005 Okay here's what I found.... The first picture, comes from MegAnimeDVD.com, they state, 5 disc Japanese Language with English/Chinese subs. The second, two different cover variations from Toysnjoys.com First one I've seen before, but got no info, but its a water color cover variant. The third is from Toysnjoys.com which they replace the previous cover with. They also state this is a 5 disc version. I just wanna make sure I'm getting what I'm really looking for which is decent subs and good picture quality. Quote

Some of the translation sucks but the they do include the Tekkaman Blade OVA specials: Twin Blood, Burning Clock, and Missing Ling. Quote
Hikuro Posted December 17, 2005 Author Posted December 17, 2005 They probably all come with the specials, but that's something I didn't think about...cause its not mentioned, and Toysnjoys advertises both covers yet one of them is the actual DVD. Quote
myk Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 I've got that middle version, also. The subbing is very bad in some parts, but the most unfortunate aspect of the set is the lack of subbing for the specials-watching the Twin Blood episodes made the expense of the dvd set worth it, at least from my point of vew, but no subbing lessens the experience. I'm assuming that the other two versions have the specials with subbing? Quote
Hikuro Posted December 18, 2005 Author Posted December 18, 2005 That's what I'd like to know...if that middle cover is the only one with the specials then I wanna know where I can actually get that variant. Quote
Keith Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 I'd be willing to bet all have the specials. And if they're all 5 disc sets, then most likely they're just repackaging of the same initial version. Quote
Hikuro Posted December 18, 2005 Author Posted December 18, 2005 Okay, than I'll just buy the one with the first picture there...I've got the specials subbed anyways, but it'd just be nice having 'em all there neatly packed. Quote
Hikuro Posted December 19, 2005 Author Posted December 19, 2005 I went ahead and purchased the first pictured version. Hopefully the subs wont be bad and will carry good video quality and the specials. That'd be a nice christmas gift for myself. Quote
