It looks like the Animeigo 9 disc set has been re release in a new box. Yet another DVD version of Macross/Robotech

Wait......how can AnimEgo release ANOTHER box style.....when they lost the rights to distribute the series.......hence why ADV was making an English dub.....

They are left overs from AnimEigo's original stock. This is a new box that was created for them. And this is old news.

Tommy Yune explained this at MWCon.

AnimEigo held the license to SDF Macross, but it expired. Normally, the procedure is for them to destroy all remaining stock. HG struck a deal with them that allowed HG to repackage and sell the set again, while still allowing AnimEigo to offer the DVD's for a limited time on their site.

So, it's the exact same series, as a matter of fact, the exact same disks. Not a re-issue, or a second printing etc. Just the leftovers in a new box set.

I don't plan on getting them. IMO the previous ones work just fine.

Also while I don't dislike the new box, that alone isn't enough for me to get another set. Throw in some extras and maybe we'll talk.

Glad someone explained it. Otherwise, this would have seemed very odd considering the dub vesion is due out in just a few days.

I actually quite like that new box.
