Wow. Lawrence Fishburn AND Ving Rhames plus Philip Seymore Hoffman as the bad guy? It's also being directed by the J.J Abrams from "ALIAS". Let's hope it brings back the TEAM spirit from the first movie.

I'll definately check this out in theatres. I did enjoy MI:2 even though it mainly action packed rather than spy vs spy. Although, I'm not going to go into some "hype" mode with a countdown and everything. I'll just casually catch it in theatres when I have time (and a few gift certs left from my bday).

it looks pretty good so far i look forward to seeing more.

everyone who does not like this movie is just being glib and has not done the research. I "Know" what it is, because I have done research. <_<

Seriously, Cruise is batshit insane.

I loved the first one. I hope this is more like the first than the second.

Although it is hard not to think about how psychotic Tom Cruise is.. I could probably get by it if it turns out to be a halfway decent movie.

Unlike MI2, as long as they can keep John Woo's trademark gun-in-each-hand, hyper-martial arts choreography and gonzo action sequences to a minimum or excluded from this film altogether, it should be fine...

There is only one reason why I would want to see this movie and she barely shows up for half a second in the trailer, Sasha Alexander

WTF?

Wing Rhames is one of the Bad Guys? Was'nt he one of Ethan Hunt's allies in the previous M.I.'s?

Why do a cringe at seeing Lawrence Fishburne as being one of the baddies? Could it be that ewverytime I see him on screen I always think of Morpheus from Teh Matrix?

I phrased it incorrectly.

I guess the only bad guy (from what I've seen in the trailer) is Hoffman.

Is Tom Cruise even ALLOWED to make movies anymore? Someone oughta stop him.... I've lost any and all respect I still had for him in the past 5 years.... I wwas too young before tehn to know that he is batfarting insane... but now I know.

A1 I have to disagree TC is a weenie, always was always will be, and he is just plain nuts, he must have drugged Katie. And proof that TC is a weenie, when making Top Gun (horrid movie BTW) he refused to take a ride in the F-14 because they wouldn't let him take the stick. Go figure Tom, there is no control column in the rear seat you idiot.

Tom Cruise is the only 5'6" guy I can imagine that I am actually afraid of. Somebody once told me:

"If you're ever in a fight with a guy you're sure is going to kill you... rip off your own lip. That'll make him think twice about trying to pummel you. Beating the snot out of a sane person is easy... but fighting a guy crazy enough to rip his own lip off? That takes more guts than most guys have... Always bet on crazy."

Now I'm not sure if my buddy was quoting a movie, but I am sure that Tom Cruise is crazy. And as such, he's one little spunky man that I am afraid of. All that being said, I'd never interview him but I can still suspend my disbelief enough to watch him in a movie. I'll rent this when it comes out on DVD... just like I did the others.

Well, the guy does have some strong beliefs, but he doesn't force em on me. He doesn't incite violence with his beliefs either... I just don't see the problem the public has with him. He sounds like an a-hole, but who in Hollywood doesn't? I think they for the most part are all a-holes. I find Tom only half as offensive as other actors who use their star power to make political claims they are unqualified to make. I am talkin liberal or even otherwise.

It pisses me off when Mel Gibson tells me to go to church.

It pisses me off when Tim Robbins tells me about how Iraq is Viet Nam all over again, when he actually doesn't know the first thing about either subject.

It pisses me off when Angelean Jolie tells me about how she is such a humanitarian and how I should learn from her example, when its obvious she adopts kids for free press.

It pisses me off when Bruce Willis tells me I need to support Bush, when he doesn't know the first thing about war either.

None of these people know jack-fukin-sh!t. They are ALL unqualified to open their mouths, but that doesn't stop em. Now in Tom's case, its not this bad because he doesn't tell ME to do anything. All he stated was HIS opinion on medicating the mind.

I hate M:I movies... but I have to watch this one cuz it's JJ Abrams first film. As for Tom Cuise, he's last few movies have been really good... except the M:I movies...

Well, technically none of those people listed "force" anything unless they're physically in front of you in which case you can crush them. But it's true that they don't know jack Sh!t... but Tom has had his "forceful" control freak scientology moments also.

Tom Cruise is certifiably insane.

Now, with that out of the way, I will admit that I have a soft spot for MI:2. There was just something about its exuberant, over-the-topness that I still like. It was almost a parody of an action movie. Sort of a Last Action Hero type parody without the magic ticket bs. It was 2 hours of stupid action porn. I was expecting the inevitable sequel to be more of the same, but with JJ Abrams on board it has the potential to be more than that.

Actually, I don't recall Gibson telling anyone explicitly that they should go to church-- at least not in a manner more forceful or direct than one Cruise uses when he tells people they shouldn't use medication or seek psychiatric help, because real help is in Scientology.

There is a difference between Tom's opinion and the other celebrity claims here-- his doesn't happen to apply to most of us. You and I aren't dealing with a mental or emotional disorder. But it's not like Tom's thinks to himself in the morning before disparaging Brook Shields, "Hmm, this oughta be okay, so long as I'm not telling Agent One what to do." We don't happen to use medication and we don't happen to need psychiatry, and thus we're not especially bothered or threatened by what he says-- but let's not pretend his statements become innocuous "opinions" just because they don't apply to us, and the opinions of others become "telling us how to live" when they do.

For someone who suffers from mental illness, Cruise is doing precisely what you take issue to-- telling people what to do on a subject he is patently unqualified to speak about. In fact, I would consider his to be the most blatant of the examples listed.

And lastly, I find his "opinions" much more dangerous than the others cited, because he actually encourages those needing medical help to seek aid in what is essentially a giant pyramid scheme in the guise of a pseudo-scentific-religion. Those who do seek out Scientology for help will find that they can only access "services" and "therapy" for increasingly large amounts of money or by devoting years of their life in grueling, nearly-unpaid service to the "Church". Then after decades or hundreds of thousands of dollars spent in the organization, whichever comes first, they'll find that their problems are simply due to--

Dead alien spirits possessing their bodies. (Of course this isn't told to anyone upfront.)

I dunno, but that's just a tad more insidious than someone who might espouse an ultimate truth, a political opinion, or encourages social responsibility by setting an example, even if they choose a tacky manner by which to do it. As well as he thinks he means, Cruise is essentially complicit in Scientology's exploitation of people who are already suffering. Maybe that should at least piss us off as much.
