NERV Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 just saw it at bestbuy i saw it was made by thecreator of hoshi no koe, i read the description and it seemed like it might be too similar to hoshi no koe tho, anyone seen it and have an opinion? Quote
Noriko Takaya Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I haven't seen it, but I do have one nagging question. Have you ever heard of punctuation? Quote
NERV Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 i live too fast for punctuation plus my keyboard sucks and often forgets the spacebar but anyway i was gonna rent it off netflix but i decided that i couldnt wait i went and bought it ill be watching it later today and be back with a review Quote
Shmitty Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I saw this a few months ago, it was a pretty great movie, but whose idea was it to change the title? When I saw it, it was called "Beyond the Clouds," this new title is a mouthful. Quote

jwinges Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Great movie. I think I actually liked it better than his first movie. I rented it though netflix but it is definitely on my buy list after I get some x-mas cash. Quote
NERV Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 btw, anyone know what the literal translation of hoshi no keo is? 'voices of a distant star' seems pretty long to come straight from that Quote
rikiryou Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Well, since there can actually be no plural in 'hoshi no koe', it can be either: Voice of a Star, or Voices of a Star, or Voices of the Stars. Take your pick. If it's "Voices of a Distant Star", the title would've been something like "Haruka na/Tooku Hoshi no Koe" in Japanese. Quote
NERV Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 well idont feel that i should worite a review just yet because it was quite complex, i will have to watch it again Quote

wolfx Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 We discussed this quite awhile back here. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...yond+the+clouds So i guess the Region 1 DVD's out now? Quote
chrono Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 To be honest it's abit of a bore movie wise. Sure their is alot going on but it really has the feeling that alot has been glossed over and because of it the characters are flat but not lifeless. The backgrounds are FLAT OUT the best backgrounds I've seen in an anime since 'Grave of the FireFlies' and completely spake studios like Production IG & Gonzo. The same can't be said of the 3D nor the character art. However the character art is very improved over 'Voices', but still has a ways to go before it can be called "brillant". It's a rental at Max, but the songs are worth buying. Quote
