Apollo Leader Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 A few weeks ago, all references to Macross 7 Trash were pulled from Tokyo Pop's web page. A few days ago, the White Drew Carey received an e-mail from Tokyo Pop indicating some sort of delay (GO HERE). And now, robotech.com has pulled all references to it. It's probably a safe bet that Big West pulled the plug since it appears that both Harmony Gold and Tokyo Pop went over Big West's head. I am sick and tired of this BS and I wish that Big West, Harmony Gold, and Tatsunuko would sit down and get some sort of compromise hammered out. Until something is settled, ultimately it's us fans being hurt.
TheLoneWolf Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 Very interesting stuff. The plot thickens even more. Back to the digi-subs then.
rsvictor1976 Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 Big West may not have anything to do with the delay. We can only assume this. By the way, I hope this thread doesn't turn into another "Harmony Gold is evil" debate.
Graham Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 It's a good thing I don't like 'Macross 7 Trash' then (not enough Mecha for my taste). If it was 'Mylene Beat' that had been cancelled instead, then I would be really pissed! Graham
Keith Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 I bet Tokyopop tried to license through the french company that was releasing it in Europe, made a deal with them, and made a deal for an OK through HG here before starting to distribute it.
justvinnie Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 Actually I thought it was pretty brazen of HG to try and get recognition of ownership on a Macross derivative when it is clear that until ruled otherwise BW has ownership of them. But this is not the thread to discuss that. vinnie
Skull Leader Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 man, just how many people does HG plan on pissing off before this is all said and done??? *sigh* another project we can slap in the "cancelled" bin (along with English VF-X2 and Toynami American valkyrie releases) just my opinion... but it seems like when any one of these projects hits a legal snag, it just gets cancelled instead of worked out.
Anubis Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 Well, there goes that. Any one know where the translated scans are? Mylene Beat would be nice too. I haven't found anything from that one.
Radd Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 This seems like a topic that should (and is, if you look) be in the Harmony Gold/Big West licensing debate thread.
Hikuro Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 In a way your right, it does belong there, but it shouldn't, the topic shouldjust be about Macross 7 Trash's delay, not about bitching and moaning about HG, we can not blame them for every mistake. Tokyopop's got a problem, and Harmony Gold is somehow invovled but it is NOT their fault, if it was, they never would of advertised it back in the early summer...we can only pin the blame on Tokyopop for screwing up, nothing else. And besides, HG wasn't really at fault with VFX-2 either, Bandai just didn't feel good about releasing a product with the Macross name in america where it's viewers who seen Robotech would be in their 20's, while kids who watch Digimon would simply beg and buy, not sure if you guys know, but they went ahead and pushed for a Digimon game instead of VFX-2 for the christmas release.
bandit29 Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 And this is the reason my interest in the Macross franchise has dropped. I'm so sick of this crap. Both companies need settle this....in the mean time the fans suffer... Thankfully I have other anime interests that don't have this soap opera BS.
bsu legato Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 I imagine that any and all questions regarding M7 Trash will be quickly and quietly deleted over on the RT.com forums from now on. Oh well, like Sunwards I guess it was too good to be true. <_
Roy Focker Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 I can find good reason for posting this here, it is news. Now that we know about it we can talk about it in the big debate thread.
