Roger Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Any chance we could get a scan of some of those pages? I'd be curious to see them. I posted a few of them on Toybox DX a while back:http://toyboxst.inwards.com/phorum/read.php?5,137684,137684 Quote
Zor Primus Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Are those Southern Cross M.U.S.C.L.E. Men? Quote
1st Border Red Devil Posted September 18, 2006 Author Posted September 18, 2006 I asked a friend to translate it and he said the jist of the post was that commercial aspects aside, Southern Cross was also a failure story-wise. He said that it had difficulty finding its audience and is pretty much forgotten nowadays. I know that Southern Cross would be considered to be a failure by many. I've also seen a japanese webpage (I'll try to locate a link) that said, its lack of sucess aside, many of the girls animes of later, like Sailor Moon, probably owe a bit to Southern Cross for having its relatively strong female leads. Perhaps it took being welded into Robotech (which owes much more of its storyline background to Southern Cross than either Macross or Mospeada) to give it some kind of success. Its interesting that as time has worn on, more and more Robotech fans find they like the middle-chapter more now that they are older. I will also add this in closing. A month ago at GenCon Indy, I asked Matt Greenfield, point blank, if Southern Cross was some kind of money making disaster (as I've heard people claim, not just here but at Robotech.com as well) for ADV Films. Unless he was lying to me or blowing sunshine up my ass, he stated that Southern Cross has done fine with ADV Films. A smash, no, but certainly not the complete disaster I hear people claim. Quote
