Viceland Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 So Jesse bought the masters huh?... good news. Quote
Mechleader Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I'd go for one. Can't beat the price for this. But first I want my launch arm. Quote
big F Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Well I have one reserved that the Captain has at the mo, But if he sells it before I get the funds together count me in. Quote
agass4u Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 A few questions first: 1. When will production begin? 2. When will you need payment by? I would like to get one, but I need to make sure I am going to have the money for it before I commit. For me, the longer it takes, the better my chances will be of getting the money together. Unfortunately I have to work within a budget since we will be having our third child soon. Either way, thanks for this opportunity. Quote
Grayson72 Posted October 3, 2005 Author Posted October 3, 2005 I need to get interest in at least 20 kits before production can begin, may be a month or so. Quote
jorawar_b Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I wish they would have made the Launch vehicle, but I wouldn't mind a second run. Quote
azrhino Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I could go for another one. That way the one I have sitting in the closet will have a friend. Quote
Viceland Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 (edited) Did Jesse also buy the Booster *Launch Rail? and if so, will it also be (re)produced? I might be tempted to go for another Booster if the *Launch Rail comes with it like a combo kit, of course I expect the price would go up. This would also mean I would need 2 Booster Launch Vehicles, that's right, 2... *Booster Launch Rail, not to be confused with Jesse's other Launch Arm project well... they both say "launch", might confuse some Edited March 3, 2006 by Viceland Quote

Neither of us have the launch rail Quote

I just offered to help cast them. It make sense as after doing the ones I did once I think I have some pretty good ideas on how to do it even better then the first run. Quote

I got the impression Jesse had bought the kit since he was the one doing the casting, many "Interest Gauging" thread are started by members who are not the ones actually doing the mastering/casting work, but are none the less part of the project handling the communications/money aspect. Plus, there was no reaction to my post #2, so I figured I was right... hence my post #9. Again, sorry about the mix-up. edit: what did happen to the rail master? John still has it? Valkyrie Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I'll be in for one too. I was too broke to buy one the first time around. Quote
honneamise Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Must have.... please count me in for one, Chad!!!! Quote
Robert S Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 would it be possable to get just a set of the decals? Quote
Grayson72 Posted October 4, 2005 Author Posted October 4, 2005 Sorry, decals are only with the new kits. Quote
Kylwell Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 What kinda of timeline are we looking at? I may have a bit more expendable income next month. If' that's withn the time-line I'm in. Quote
Valk009 Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Put me down for one Seems like this run will have better quality control and those extra decals! Quote

Hopefully we'll get some orders from the folks over at SSM as well. Quote
Kylwell Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Good...hopefully. Keep your fingers crossed that this extra income comes through. Quote

And $85 is a bit pricey to be sitting gathering dust on my shelves here at the Galactic Control Center... .. even though $85 is a darn reasonable price for this kit, especially if it now comes with decals. http://www.starshipmodeler.com/mecha/jb_booster.htm ^ Gundamhead's review of the first issue. cobywan Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 I would love to get one that has the casting issues from the first run worked out. I'm cool with buying it through StarshipModeler's store. Quote

Berttt Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Sorry, decals are only with the new kits. 333966 Surely if enough people were interested you could do a run for those that have one of the original kits. I know I'm not the only one interested. Who's doing the decals anyway? Berttt Quote
armentage Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 I'd love to have one, but $85 is a bit too much Quote
Less than Super Ostrich Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 (edited) I'd love to have one, but $85 is a bit too much 336002 for that hunk of resin... $85 is reasonable, IMHO maybe could you lower the cost with Rotocast? Can a caster comment on this?? Edited October 12, 2005 by Less than Super Ostrich Quote
cobywan Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 (edited) The kit is as thin as it can be already. You should look at WM Cheng's buildup in the model building forum. Found it http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=11976 Edited October 12, 2005 by cobywan Quote

Viceland Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Shaving resin off this kit only to save a few bucks won't be worth the decrease in quality and strength of the kit, and the savings would be minimal at best. Quote

It's why I don't understand when somebody uses cheap resin. The price difference is minor but the quality difference is major. Don't skimp on the resin or molding material. Quote
Myersjessee Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 You could rotocast the engines and save a nice chunk of resin (they are solid! and dense) but honestly, I don't like rotocast parts for my models. If you have a great caster they are good, but I have a couple kits that are so thin in spots I worry about even trying to paint them for fear of having to rebuild sections. Plus...the savings, overall...woudlnt be much...your talking about somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 of resin per kit....so if you somehow saved 50% it's still only $15 off....and you wouldnt save 1/2 with the engines...maybe $10 total. Add in the costs of a rotocast machine and you break even....nope...doesn't really work on this kit IMO. Quote
