OT: Does Anyone remember or play this game?

I used to play this game back in 1998-99 called BATTLEZONE.

It was a remake of the 1981 Arcade game of the same name.

I recently found out that there are new servers up and running for online play.

Never could get the pc ver to work on my computer back then but I still have and sometimes play BZ2. great game bit like GTA but with tanks and odd looking walkers.

I thought it was an excellent game for its time. A tad underrated though. Battlezone2 ....i dunno....it didn't hold me in as long. Got bored halfway through.

Loved sniping tanks and hijacking them.

Oddly enough, I was messing with the PC version the other day.

Appears to have some nasty bugs in the 3D acceleration code. From what I can tell , it worked with DirectX 5, DX6 broke it, they patched it to fix that, and either DX7 broke it again or the DX6 fixes didn't work right.

Should work nicely in software rendering, though. I need to sit down and test that.

I loved Battlezone, I used to go to the arcade almost every weekend as a little kid to play this, and Galaxian or some stuff like that.

The cabinet was also unique, as you had to view the thing through this very small viewfinder. I remember not being quite tall enough, so the game also took a physical toll on me!

Actually, that was a cool game, although with some bugs. Especially with the eject controls. BUt it was an excellent game.
