Terrance Wong Posted September 27, 2003 Posted September 27, 2003 Have one of these guys on order from HLJ (yeah, I've been holding out on you guys until the order went through ), simply because I've always wanted a VF/YF-19 but don't have the money for the Yamato or the patience for a Hasegawa. So, for those of you who have it...pros/cons? Quote
hellohikaru Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 I don't have it..nearly went for it though. Not sure about shape accuracy but you had to swap parts(nosecone) and the landings are removeable. It is a kit so painting is required. Quote
Tage Posted September 28, 2003 Posted September 28, 2003 hey i'm just in the middle of makin one actually, i've done all the puttying and i just gotta paint it and panel line it. it's pretty kool, and i'll put up a review/pro/cons stuff after it's all done if ya like? Quote
Graham Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 I don't have it..nearly went for it though. Not sure about shape accuracy but you had to swap parts(nosecone) and the landings are removeable. It is a kit so painting is required. I've owned about 4 of these kits, but just snap fit built them. I didn't paint them or anything. You do not need to remove the nosecone. When transforming from battroid to fighter mode, the only parts you need to remove are the hands and the lower torso/hip section. Also, the anding gear does not need to be removed for transformation as it folds inside the legs and nose. Graham Quote
Terrance Wong Posted October 1, 2003 Author Posted October 1, 2003 Got it yesterday and spent the night building it. No time to review now, but all I can say right now is that the construction went nothing like your average Gundam. And it's fun to transform. I'll need to paint it and get some pics up soon. Quote
Gubaba Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 It's not bad...the Battroid and Gerwalk modes look pretty accurate. The fighter mode is rather unconvincing, though. They're pretty easy to put together. Paint helps, but isn't necessary. The foil stickers are pretty hideous, though. Quote
VFX Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 (edited) These kits look good in Batloid mode, but really bad in Gerwalk or Fighter modes. They transform, but the results ain't pretty. Bandai should have been embarrassed to release these kits. The were substandard in the year they came out in. If you going to lock it in Batloid mode, it will look pretty good. Terrance Wong Posted October 4, 2003 Author Posted October 4, 2003 The wings aren't as nice as I had hoped they would be, but otherwise I'm quite satisfied. Jebus cheese, this thing is HUGE compared to my other 1/100 Valks, nearly the size of the Hasegawa Battroid. Quote
Phil Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 I built the 1/100 Fire Valk when it first came out and was unimpressed with how it looked. I then decided to redo it by sacrificing the fighter mode by removing all the pegs and filling all the holes in the arms and legs that are used to keep the kit together in fighter mode. I also glued shut the landing gear doors and liberally added putty over the gaps around the landing gear doors and elbows. The Valk now looks much better in both battloid and gerwalk and am glad I made the changes - if you want fighter mode, get a Hasegawa. Quote
