Roy Focker Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Why is Macross World's forums so slow to load? Yes my computer is five years old and is on dial up. Up to two to a year and a half ago I could visit Macross World and have over ten topics open to review with no problems. I can still do the same thing at other message boards but once I go to Macross World's forums I have to cut that number by half and things drop down to a crawl. It gets slower when I make a standard reply. Not that many topics I am viewing have a lot of images in them either. Does anyone else share this problem but with this board specifically? Quote
kensei Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 (edited) Sometimes, but not always. It does happen when there is heavy traffic on the board. BTW, it always happens in the Other Anime and Science Fiction forum if that helps in any way. I just discovered I posted a blank but quoted post. WTF? I typed stuff in! zeo-mare Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 it seems about normal for me, the only time it goes slow for me is when i am downloading stuff. chris Quote
promethuem5 Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I find that it helps to have BOTH hands on the keyboard Seriosuly tho, I don't have any problems... MW is one of the faster forums I peruse... Quote
Hurin Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Seriosuly tho, I don't have any problems... MW is one of the faster forums I peruse... 330305[/snapback] I second that. MW nearly always blows every other Invision board away where speed is concerned. But, then again, I'm a geek who is always connecting via broadband with a faster computer. Quote
Mr March Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 MW has always been among the fastest message board systems of which I've been a member. The only problems I've ever had have been traced back to my own internet connection, so it's never been MW itself that was a problem. I use ADSL from Telus. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 (edited) Have a 5 years old computer too. Still using Windows 98 with broadband connection and MW, as others said, is the fastest message board. (I'm buying a new computer next month ) Edited September 22, 2005 by Ignacio Ocamica Quote
EXO Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Damn... took long enough... I click on this thread an hour ago... jk, MW is hella fast. Quote

Gaijin Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 MW seems to be one of the fastest forums around for me. Quote
Graham Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Have broadband at home and work for a couple of years. No problems with speed for me on the MW forums. Graham Quote
Ishimaru Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 My speed is normal and my connection is Dial-up, but at times my computer freezes a little cause of the boards. Quote
kanata67 Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 normally almost instantaneous but sometimes there are glitches and I get stuck in limbo for a while. Not sure how long "limbo" lasts as I normally do something else till the next day when it's usually fine again. [drink, pass out, sober up and check back, repeat ] Quote
Roy Focker Posted September 23, 2005 Author Posted September 23, 2005 My speed is normal and my connection is Dial-up, but at times my computer freezes a little cause of the boards. The problems seems to be for those with dial-up. Quote
Fortress_Maximus Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Generally no problems, except when checking w/the Blackberry. In regular mode can't reply and in Lo-Fi can't reply or get into the inbox. Was it designed this way? Quote
EXO Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 (edited) I don't think it was designed at all with the Blackberry or any PDAs in mind. Edited September 26, 2005 by >EXO< Quote

Noriko Takaya Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 I have always accessed MW through a modem and have never had a problem. Quote

Fortress_Maximus Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Ok so now that that is cleared up... does anyone know why in Low-Fi mode you cannot view your messages/inbox? Thanks! Quote
JValk Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 hey i haven't come here in a while so i wanted to say GREAT JOB on the new look! it loads superfast for me here! Quote
valkyrietestpilot Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 i just switched from dial-up to broadband a few months ago.i only had trouble here on dial-up when i was viewing an image-intensive thread.i think the last few upgrades we had helped that issue a little by shrinking pics to a thumbnail for you to click.that way, full-size images weren't constanly sucking bandwidth and slowing you down to a crawl when you were hanging here.i would guess that those on dial-up here would see improvements, not more issues after an upgrade Quote
