aaajin Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 (edited) Hi, Pardon my ignorance if this has been discussed before. Last night as I was checking my e-mail, I came across an e-mail from ultimate-toys about this figure Matoko Kusanagi Is this an awesome, super poseable piece or is it just trash? Anyone care to give a review on this figure? aaajin Edited August 31, 2005 by aaajin Quote
zeo-mare Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 i have never seen this one before, it looks pretty good and it looks quite poseable, do you have a price for it? chris Quote
eriku Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 (edited) Body looks awesome, but the head is too 'real world' style, just like all the other CG figures. Instead of looking like Motoko it looks like a hot cosplay chick (not that there's anything wrong with that!). Edited August 31, 2005 by eriku Quote
Zentrandude Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 yah the head looks like it should been the female terminator's head in t3 Quote
JELEINEN Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Looks cool, but anyone else find it ironic that they gave her a revolver? Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 That revolver is a Mataeba revolver that Togusa uses. WHY they gave it to the Major is the question. Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 That revolver is a Mataeba revolver that Togusa uses.WHY they gave it to the Major is the question. 324740 Cuz, she's one BAD MAMA JAMMA!!! Quote
wolfx Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Wonder if they'll make a "naked stealth" variant. Quote
Wesker99 Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Wonder if they'll make a "naked stealth" variant. 324775 Nein, I'm guessing this is based off the TV show, in which they don't have to go buff to go invisible. Action figure looks ok, but the face looks way off. And that turns me off. Guess it comes down to the price. Quote
rnurmin Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Wow, that figure is nice. I wonder if they have the original Motoko version in the other uniform Quote
JB0 Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Wonder if they'll make a "naked stealth" variant. 324775 One of many things I hated about the movie. But all of them are naked stealth if you take the clothes off. Anyways... I suspect the revolver is just because they were sticking several distinctive guns into the package. I think every Ghost fan knows it's all about the Seburo, though. Quote
aaajin Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 Yeah, I found that its kinda cool looking toy i have never seen this one before, it looks pretty good and it looks quite poseable, do you have a price for it?chris 324727 hm...that's the problem...the website doesnt list the prices for their stuff....maybe theyre just for sale in store... Anyone know whos the manufacturer? aaajin Quote
Godzilla Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 That revolver is a Mataeba revolver that Togusa uses.WHY they gave it to the Major is the question. 324740 I was thinking the same thing. I instantly recognized it being the Togusa's revolver. But why give her the gun? Quote

One of the more memorable scenes in the manga is her criticizing Togusa for carrying one. Since we can't see the eyes, I'm trying to figure out where the "too realistic" comments are coming from. Really, it reminds me a lot of the cgi'd opening to SAC (I've always said that that opening makes her look like a barbie doll). Hope they do a Batou figure. Quote

JELEINEN Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Here's a picture, from the Cool Girls website, of the figure with the eyes visible: Thanks. Now I agree that it doesn't look right. For those wondering about the price, HLJ has it for 9500 yen. 324916 Yeesh. Too much for me. Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 All I'd want out of it are the guns... the doll looks butt ugly and far too "manish" to be the Major. If it's articulation did not suck eggs that last doll of the Major that came in a few clothes varaitions was pretty nice. Stick that head on this body, trim the body's manishness down a tad, give it better clothes and then we'd have a ballgame for that price. Quote
UN_MARINE Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 check out the box, it's a "Cy Girls" line of 12" figs. I'll bet it really IS a 'super realistic' head behind those shades. BAD Quote
eriku Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I wonder how easy it would be to put the old Motoko 12" figure's head on this body. I've got that figure (Was it Yamato that made it?) and aside from the head it's pretty aweful. Even if it does have nipples and 'lady parts'... Quote
Nightbat Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Yeah, but she doesn't like revolvers. One of the more memorable scenes in the manga is her criticizing Togusa for carrying one. 324858 actually, she's more concerned about it's (lack of) power, not that it's a revolver a six-shooter isn't much use if you're supposed to give coverfire Quote
Godzilla Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Yeah the figure looks too manly. But the head just does not fit well on her. Quote
BoBe-Patt Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I collect some 12" figures, but something like this I'll pass on. Looks cool though. I still want that female jin-roh figure... Quote
drifand Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 (edited) I had also considered the female Jinroh figure, but in the end rejected it as being too unreal - the armor simply overemphasized that the wearer was a woman, not a super deadly trooper. Now the CG Motoko, OTOH, was harder to resist even with the 'manly' head. That's because the rest of the kit was excellent - AND - it isn't too hard to do a kit bash if you have the older ALPHA/TOYCOM figure from 2001. I managed to do the switch and even fitted on the CG's cool, cool shades. The anime-style head is just way better! Older ALPHA/TOYCOM figure on the right, modified for better poseability. I think if I ever come across the older figures for sale I'd definitely snap them up - just for the heads! But I still wouldn't go for the sleazier looking SAC 2nd Gig Motoko that's coming up. The first time I saw it I thought it was cool, but the more I looked at it the more I just didn't like it. Its the same for this Motoko figure. The only reason I would get it would be the shades and the gun, but at that point the price isn't worth it. besides, where am I going to get a 1/6 scale tachikoma? Quote

IIRC, the Major did'nt carry revolvers she prefered automatics, right? Quote
haro genki Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 But I still wouldn't go for the sleazier looking SAC 2nd Gig Motoko that's coming up. 325852 Does this make Batou Neo? Quote

And if they can make jeeps, tanks and even helicopters for 1/6 figures, a Fuchi/Tachi shouldn't be impossible. Quote
