JB0 Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 If Homotech can be considered SciFi, what happened to Astro Boy or even Voltron? They were here before Uncle Macek and his goons raped Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada. If those morons at the SF awards need to honor a production, they should give it to Star Blazers. The OTHER raped anime. Voltron got raped too. Fortunately, plot isn't very important to super robot programs. Quote
EXO Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 Original creators get no mention in the RT credits. Hmm....so they were supposed to have 5 mins worth of credits to list all the animators? 323529 So the original creators shoudn't be mentioned at all? Nice way to twist the facts your way. Let's face it. If the original didn't have the characters, their story, and especially the mechs to be derived from Robotech is nothing. And all three were products of those people's imagination. HG didn't design the VFs, the Alpha, the SDF-1 and your beloved hovertanks. A lot of Robotech's success had nothing to do with the meshing and the dubbing. Robotech is neither even remotely original, nor is it close enough to the originals to be considered a dub. It's a sad bastardization of 2 good, and one "ok" show. Think of a really good beer that you enjoy (if you drink), and then imagine that beer left out for a couple hours, and watered down. While it could still be considered beer, it's nothing you'd want to drink. 323557 You forgot to mention that there were three different kinds of beers that were poured into a cup and there was cigarette butts and backwash all over it.... Yum... nice beer punch for breakfast that the SciFi Museum is having. Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 How do you do that Garfield ? Thats easy John fat floats ... dummy Quote
Pat Payne Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 If those morons at the SF awards need to honor a production, they should give it to Star Blazers. The OTHER raped anime. 323552 Star Blazers/Yamato I wouldn't classify as a "r*ped" (please, people, can't we use another word, huh?) show, because it was mostly cut only for objectionable content (and some minor time cuts), did not have other shows grafted on to it, and Leiji Matsumoto, Yoshinobu Nishizaki and the other members of the Japanese creative team were properly credited. For me a (what you said) anime would be like Robotech or Voltron, which were a ployglot of stand-alone shows shoehorned into a unified whole, with cuts made for little reason other than to help shoehorn the plots together, and with little or no credit given to the original creators. And no, 1BRD, that doesn't mean every single person down to the two ramen dilveryboys has to be credited, but at least the major creative team, whithout whom the US polyglots wouldn't exist. Quote
Druna Skass Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 OK so the bottomline is that this "museum" is run by a bunch of dorks so they could look cool and impress chicks with some "I have my own museum" line so they could finnaly lose their virginities before they hit 30. Quote
Roy Focker Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 Just smells like PR too me and that comes with being edjumecated in it. What is Robotech really? A translation dub with a some rewriting to sorta make all three parts fit with a stretch of the imagination. If Robotech is honored the orignals should get 99% of the credit. Quote
