eming Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Yes, I must say that this is probably the best piece that yamato has come out with. Anyway, greetings and salutations to all macross fans, it certainly feels great to be home! Welcome to MW dudes.... Quote
eming Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 New pic, small size. Attached thumbnail(s) Aahh.... It's going to be another tough financial year ahead... Quote
EXO Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Vanships, Garlands and Valks. Oh my! I want everything in that pic! Hey I was pretty spot on about the scale too. 1/15. Quote
CF18 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Is that scan from Figure Oh magazine? If so, which issue? No.95? Not sure. Most of the other scans posted yesterday came from HJ, but this one have no tag. http://globe.visualmedia.com.hk/vm.php?art...ticle_id=198478 Quote
Macross73 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 (edited) I'm gonna be poor after this The transformation is very nice just like the 1/48s Edited January 24, 2006 by Macross73 Quote
Fort Max Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 The Garland is due as early as June according to Matt Alt of Toybox DX. Quote
jenius Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 looks like they took a 1/48 VF-1 and beat it with an ugly stick. I'm really eager to start hearing reviews though, I'm optomistic the toy makes up for its ugliness (not its fault of course, I think the VF-0 is just an ugly duck) with some swank gadgetry. For the price it's going for I think it might be able to perform felatio. Okay, just kidding, but it should have some neat little tricks up its tiny-armed sleeves and a good amount of detail that the pics so far don't do justice to. Quote
Graham Posted January 24, 2006 Author Posted January 24, 2006 While it's difficult to be sure, that pic makes it look like the LERX might be diecast. Graham Quote
myk Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 It's a big, akward looking bird-I love it... Quote
promethuem5 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Wow. The test shots look gorgeous, and the Garland looks awesome too. Quote
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 speaking of diecast the shoulder hinges look diecast too!!! I had always wished the 1/48 had diecast hinges, this one does~! Quote
Fortress_Maximus Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Absolutely lovely! Thanks for sharing the pics! Quote
wolfx Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I'm worried about the shoulder joints. See in gerwalk mode, you can see most of the shoulder joint and it doesn't look too sturdy on resin. Hopefully its not droopy and loose on the final release. Quote
eugimon Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 OMG!!! A VANSHIP!!! oh, and the vf-0 thing is nice looking too. Quote
Graham Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 Damn, Hobby Japan and Dengeki Hobby are late arriving in HK. Won't have them until tomorrow. Graham Quote
DatterBoy Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I definitely like the VF-0 and all it's variations, but I have to say, looks wise. it does not look better than a VF-1 and it's even more apparent when you see the models standing still. When they are, you can really pick out some of the funky proportions and geometries, like the arms. Take a good look at the forearms... weird shape. They look much better in motion to be sure. One thing I think they should do is drill out the airbrake holes. Always loved how the airbrake holes looked when you could see right through them. That was a sweet detail. looks like they took a 1/48 VF-1 and beat it with an ugly stick. 363588 Quote
jenius Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Okay, at the risk of sounding like I'm not very knowledgable about the VF-0, what's the deal with the gap above the feet in GERWALK mode? Is that how it's supposed to be are just something that's necessary for the toy or am I just being confused by the lighting? Let me know if you guys don't see what i'm talking about... Quote
izzyfcuk Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 One funny thing...why don't yamato give us straight off the fat hands??? Quote
Graham Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 The VF-0 in the anime has fairly skinny hands. But I do think it would be better if Yamato also supplied the toy with a set of fixed-pose hands as well as the articulated ones. Graham Quote
izzyfcuk Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 yeah although that's the case but we know how ugly it is with those stick hands Quote
myk Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 This variable fighter is supposed to be....."odd" looking, as it's the predecessor to the sleeker, ideally proportioned and arguably better looking VF-1... Quote
Die, Alien Scum! Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 (edited) One thing I think they should do is drill out the airbrake holes. Always loved how the airbrake holes looked when you could see right through them. That was a sweet detail. I agree 100%. The holes in the airbrake are one of the main features of the VF-0 which set it apart from the VF-1. Hopefully the final product will be "anime-accurate" (if that's possible with transforming mecha) and have holes through it. I'm thinking that maybe the prototype piece just isn't sturdy enough with holes through it. But I'll be hella pissed (yes, I said "hella"... because Cartman told me too) if they pull some cheap-ass fake out and simply put black paint in the indentations and call it good-enough! kensei Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 That VF-0 looks helluva buff. I would like to see a full review on it soon. Hopefull they will lay it out with ALL the accessories. And open up the door to a VF-0D. Quote
ghostryder Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 This variable fighter is supposed to be....."odd" looking, as it's the predecessor to the sleeker, ideally proportioned and arguably better looking VF-1... 363959 Shoot, give the VF-1 arms and shoulder that sit flush with the fighter bottom (like the zero), a skinnier canopy, and those zero-style rounded exhaust flaps, it would damn-well near be perfect . ValkJunkie Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 I think its lookin' uber good. Gonna get at least two of these babies. Just in case they decide to make the reactive armor for it as well. Can't wait. These guys are coming with FAST packs included right? Quote
Fort Max Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Brace yourselves, ZP have the Garlands price and it's not pretty, http://www.zincpanic.com/view_article.phtml?id=25247 Quote
promethuem5 Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Oh look, ANOTHER $160 toy... seems to be the magic number for Yamato now... Quote
Graham Posted January 26, 2006 Author Posted January 26, 2006 Hopefully, can pick up the new Hobby Japan & Dengeki Hobby mags in about an hour and then post any new pics in about 2 hours time. Graham Quote
jenius Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Oh look, ANOTHER $160 toy... seems to be the magic number for Yamato now... When does the Garland get its own thread? How come everyone ignored my comment about the VF-0s feet? Am I wrong or is there something funky with GERWALK mode? Quote
feudallordcult Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 (edited) at $160/-, i just hope yamato doesn't go the full extent of slaying the goose that lays the golden eggs. but in retrospect, i must say that the attention put into the detailing for yamato toys are absolutely top-notch stuff. thanks in advance to graham for the forthcoming pics, i can hardly wait! BTW I don't think there's anything to panic about, if I'd be building a toy, I'd whant my early sculpt easy to take apart, prally the reason the "ankles" aren't completly round like the 1/48 Edited January 26, 2006 by NoSuchFile Quote
Graham Posted January 26, 2006 Author Posted January 26, 2006 Damn, my shop still doesn't have the mags in, which is very unusual. They usually get here on the 24th of every month and it's the 26th here in HK already. Oh well, have to wait at least one more day Graham Quote
isamu_dyson Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 can't wait . I hope there"ll be good pictures of the VF-0 Quote
