jvmacross Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Those are nice....I need to dig mine out...there are about 4 or 5 different sets...oddly enough, I have never run into any that have actually been painted...you could be the first! Quote
Fortress_Maximus Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 @ jvmacross: Thanks for sharing some of your new additions. Have you created a free rubberslug.com cell gallery? It's simple and quick. You will find many cell collectors there too. Cheers! Quote
jvmacross Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Hey Fortress...I'd like to someday...but I only have time to take some quick pics with my cell phone at the moment...most of the stuff on rubberslug seems to be nicely scanned.....at this point it would take me a long time to scan my collection..... Quote
Fortress_Maximus Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Really? When I look around I see tons of galleries that just have photos not scans. Well either way hope you create a gallery. You have so many cels it is a waste to just post on this thread. If you need help, just pm. Quote
jvmacross Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 OK Maximus...I'll take a look and setup an account. Quote
AcroRay Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 (edited) That Ishtar genga is beautiful, jv.... And Thanks for the 'open box' look at the cel painting kit, garyboy! Edited April 2, 2015 by AcroRay Quote
jvmacross Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 No one can do eyes like Mikimoto.... Actually, I am considering a commission for an Ishtar from an artist brought to my attention by DarrinG.....just trying to figure out if I want to start with Ishtar or an SDFM character.... Quote
DarrinG Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Yeah - those are cool and all. But don't you have anything new? Like a custom made piece that would really impress us - ? Quote
DarrinG Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I think they look awesome. The color and detail is so crisp - they 'pop' right out at you. Nice pieces, at some nice prices... Quote
Mokman Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Well done stuff. What kind of price is a "nice price". How were the backgrounds done? Quote
jvmacross Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Around $50 for the two character and $35 for the single character......so as you very well know, a fraction of the cost of an original production cel......very nice quality, but the choice in colors could have been tweaked a bit....the artist is very responsive and if I had cared to be more "involved" in the process...I'm sure the colors could have been more "on-screen" accurate....In short, a very well done hand-painted fancel....I'm satisfied with it and will probably commission some mech cels next.... As for the background....It is laser printed...I did not ask if she could hand paint one, but pretty sure she could if you wanted to go that far with it....money talks as they say! Quote
Mokman Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Huh. Much less than I would have thought. I was expecting around $100. I don't think I have a desire to get any for myself, but interesting to know the service is out there. Quote
jvmacross Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 If DarrinG had not pointed it out I would not have known about it...but yes, the price is very reasonable considering what original SDFM cels are going for these days... Quote
spanner Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 hehe! that's quite graphic eh! nice progressive close ups JVM! Quote
spanner Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 funny enough I sorta got that impression of Max also.. although DYRL was definitely a lot more violent and graphic than SDFM.. like they stepped it up to be more of an adult release. Hehe! Max a closet psychopath! joining the defense force gave him an outlet for what was bottled up inside! Quote
spanner Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 hahaha! exactly! I use to watch Dexter.. is it still running or finished? Quote
Renato Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Yeah, I had one of those Macross Cel Painting Kits, and I did paint two of them, but I didn't paint directly on the cel. Instead, I did the smart thing and actually traced the lineart onto a blank cel of my own and applied the paint directly to that. I was actually quite pleased with the results. I did one of Minmay laughing after she and Hikaru were rescued from under Macross City, and one of Minmay sleeping with her head on Hikaru's shoulder. What's funny is that the colouring instructions actually give the wrong colours, the uniform that Minmay wears after her shower is supposed to be olive-like, but the kit tells you it's white. Well, I decided to go for the more screen-accurate one. It should be somewhere in my mother's house in the UK, but I don't know where. Quote
jvmacross Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 It should be somewhere in my mother's house in the UK, but I don't know where. Dont bother mum just look here....http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=42362 Quote
jvmacross Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Well....I guess if folks can post hundreds of pics of the same valks using the same rationale.... ......a personally hand-painted cel would be refreshing to see! Quote
Renato Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Yeah, I remember I took a photo of me *holding* it, but that was before digital cameras, so I don't know where that photo is now, either! Anyway, here is one of my latest acquisitions which I *didn't* paint! Just need to find a nice frame and display it now... Which is easier said than done... Quote
DarrinG Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Max kill diorama . . . ( this has probably been posted here a few times ) Quote
jvmacross Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Someone told me where you can get one done.... Quote
