I was worried when I saw the U.N. trailer, but this official trailer makes things better... A WHOLE LOT BETTER!!!!

Looked to be the same thing in better quality. Cel animation looked good. Though there seems to be a fluctuation in detail. CGI went from good to awful in some shots, and there's way too much. It's like they're depending on flashy CGI to impress the majority that seem to like that sort of thing.

The voice acting seems to be on par with anime dubbing. Really out of tone and unrealistic sounding.

I'm not impressed, nor put off. Meh..

Robotech, coming back if full glory. Beautiful animation, nicely integrated CGI. I'm blown away. I got goosebumps.

Bottom line: When I saw the trailer for Star Wars: Phantom Menace, I was very worried. I'm not worried about this.

PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN!

I hate Harmony Gold, but I love Robotech. That trailer looks so good, I'm willing to give them a chance to make me believe in them.

Best guess is December '05, right after Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles finishes.

As for the release date, I keep hearing early December. It's suppose to be released in DVD right after the "prelude to the Shadow Chronicles" 5 issue comic mini series from DC comics/Wildstorm ends.

The a$$holes at the panel would not give us more concrete answers, even though they said they would tell us at Comic Con during the Q&A in Anime Expo.

I also hear that the Cyclones are finally coming out, which will tie in with the new series, along with the new line of Shadow Chronicles toys.

Can you say armored Alpha/Beta with Synchro Canon?????

The CG looks like a videogame... Totally unfinished. I guess if this is a rough cut its ok though. As it looks now, it is nowhere near Macross Zero levels.

It's also a tv series, I wouldn't expect Macross Zero level animation. Still, I'm not keen on the CG ships, the 2D animated ships from the old show looked so much better. I still think people think of CG as a shortcut, and don't realize that you have to put in every bit as much time and effort to make it look as good.

I'm looking forward to checking it out. It looks a far cry better than that Sentinels garbage.

Huh, you're right. I heard they were making a tv series and an OVA, but from the quality I just assumed this was for the tv series. As an OVA it looks really low budget.

Right click the link and save target as. Should work better that way. Its 150 megs so streaming it isn't a good idea.

Saw it and thought...meh...no biggie. The CG looks pretty much like what's being churned out like Action Man, Acceleracers, GI Joe etc. But I must say their Cel mixed with CG scenes were done pretty well.

I'd say at this point, HG can either make it or break it. Looks 50/50. They can make this into a new cult classic, or a commercial flop. Oh well...if it means better, cheaper and more Mospeada toys.....

I'll watch it and Im definitely glad there will be toys accessible in the US for the show. Whomever is in these fights for licensing rights or whatever,( Big West? Harmony Gold?) they are killing the franchise by limiting access to the toys so far.

Blame HG. They've fought to keep the Big West-licensed toys from Japan out of the US, without providing any real alternatives for much of it.

Not even really fought, just threatened legal action against people that can't afford to be in a suit.

I'm gonna check it out. Like A1 said, I don't now about groundbreaking though. I'm guessing it can't hold a candle to Last Exile. We'll see. The music was great. That last bit with the low strings sounded good.

I won't go out of my way to watch it, but if one of my friends puts a copy in front of me in the hopes that its good (as they invariably will, bless their niave hearts) I'll probably watch it.

You know what I want to see is a scene where a bunch of cyclones are jumping all over the place. In the NG you only see a couple at a time at the most. Even at the end there wasn't a mass of them. The scene of all the Leggios/Tlead in the beginning of the original Mospeada was awesome.

oh and btw, I find it amusing that some of you are knocking the quality of the animation and comparing it to other anime when it just went into it's post production phase and is still 4 months away.

Remember that the real magic happens in post production and is so far looking great!!!!! You purists and Robotech haters are just too much.

It looks "interesting" I may download the first episode, mentally replacing all the names with the Mospeada equivalents, and if it turns out to be good, with good animation and is well written I will pay for it. BUt as of now, I must say I find it rather blah, and maybe it's just me but I find the uniforms to be rather gay, give me pratical, realistic uniforms anyday over these ST-TNG inspired garbage.
