honneamise Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Looks like a 1/4000 DYRL SDF from Yellow Submarine alongside a 1/5000 TV version from IMAI. The YS is a resin kit released some years ago and the IMAI is an old but very good plastic kit from the 80s. Both are really well built and painted! Great to see those together, first time I see an IMAI actually built up and not locked in a vault! Quote
Less than Super Ostrich Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I'm working on that kit right now. Decent kit, but the fit isn't that great. Takes some work, but not a hard kit. Quote
Less than Super Ostrich Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Here is the Storm Attacker Mode of the same kit. Quote
UN Spacy Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I wonder why it's so hard for Bandai or Yamato to release a SDF-1. I'm sure most of us would buy it. Quote

connor99 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Thanks for the pics, WOLFX! I'd be nice to have one of those Yellow Submarine kits, specially when it's well done like that ! Quote
wolfx Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 Thanks for the info, honneamise. And that looks pretty good, super ostrich! Quote

Less than Super Ostrich Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Thanks for the info, honneamise. And that looks pretty good, super ostrich! 314954 I wish... that's not my kit... just something I found on the net. Thought it was a good guide. I plan to do a similar "paneling" technique. Lots of Tamiya tape! Quote
Goshawk Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 (edited) I want a SDF DYRL is cruiser mode so bad, but everytime I see one its expensive as all hell and get out. Edited July 28, 2005 by Goshawk Quote
Magnus Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Oh man, i'd snap up a Yamato SDF-1 in a second. Come on guys, you've gotta make one! Looking at the SDF-1 models there, it would have been a lot cooler if they could've retconned the TV model as "SDF-1" and the DYRL model as "SDF-3" or such..... oops, wrong series! hahahaha Quote
Pat Payne Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 These look cool! Are they model kits? 314650 Wow...looking at them side-by-side, I never realized just how beefy the DYRL Macross was compared to the TV Macross... Quote

The DYRL one is really impressive. Still I like the SDF-1 TV with it carrier as the arms. Quote
Solscud007 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 The SDF-1/Macross needs a GERWALK mode! 315245 there was a sketch in a comic strip of macross where the SDF-1 did a gerwalk mode. Quote
