That voice. (this will make more sense after you've seen the latest episode). Also, Fifteen utters one of the most chilling lines I think I've ever heard a Doctor say, props again to Ncuti Gatwa for the delivery.

There will be a new "Tales of the TARDIS", at least via the BBC media sources, on the 20th June. SPEC-U-LATE!

Excellent episode, really looking forward to the last one of the season.

I've heard that viewership is not what was planned.  I hope that does not stop production on another season.

Finally, I forgot most of the callback this one has, I only just started remembering the original when I started typing this.

I know the villain is from a story thats highly regarded but... I've never seen it. I think I have to hand in my bag of jelly babies now or something. 😉 It was broadcast just a little early for my timeline.

According to RTD, no, viewership isn't as hoped (though this may be because in the UK at least, there is some competition as the sportsball season gears up for some event or other) but viewership among under-30s is off the charts. Of course, we only have his word for it but its also possible at the moment that people are staying in as we have lighter evenings and "Who" is broadcast currently on the BBC about the time people will be heading out for the pub (or bubble tea cafe or axe throwing club or whatever it is people do on Saturday evenings now), possibly they're catching up later. I know I have been.

Must've missed that line (had to run to the bathroom, stomach issues).

A decent ending, not great but very good.  With enough unanswered threads (plenty actually) to fuel a big mystery for a few more seasons to come.

Wasn't the best season finale but it kinda reflects the point of episode.

Spoiler

Ruby's mum isn't any special person. We think Ruby is special because Ruby's mum is special. But she's not; subverting expectations. But the memory is what's special.

15 saying he now becomes the monster reminds me of 12's speech in "Flatline" about being the man that stops the monsters.

Mrs. Flood, on the other hand, is likely another one of the pesky gods.

Guess I also wasn't alone in hearing that tune from "Time of The Doctor", "Never tell me the rules!"-speech at the end there.

Varada Sethu (who played that lady soldier in "Boom") will be the Doctor's companion next series. Millie Gibson will also be back so Ruby's part in this story isn't done yet.

This Christmas's Doctor Who didn't have .....terrifying emergency.   No arachnoid alien ship, runaway brides, murderous angelic robots, intelligent snow, no running around screaming and being loud.    Just a suitcase.

Joy to the World was relatively quiet.   A different change of pace.

The Doctor WILL RETURN.

oh, and Doctor Who at the Proms 2024 last night was nice as well.  Hosted by said Runaway Bride.

I liked it, a more character driven story.

I also picked up "The Daleks" in color on Amazon video, just $1.99 is a bargain, I'll be picking up The Wargames when it becomes available too.

What could be more suitable for Christmas TV than, essentially, a compilation of "Moffats Greatest Hits"... Channel 5, 8pm, Christma...  [1] oh, wait... 😃 Having said that, I really enjoyed it, though possibly because a couple of the plot points had a personal element for me. Gatwa continues to impress me with the way he can go from fun loving party guy to absolutely ruthless when required. Was that a nod to the infamous "The Feast of Steven" right at the end there?

I haven't had time to watch more than a couple minutes of the colourised "The War Games" but as iPlayer has both the original and the new version I was able to compare the openings, and blimey from what I've seen the colourisation work is incredible, you can barely tell (again, based on a couple of minutes) that it wasn't broadcast in colour to start with.

In the UK the Christmas Special was followed up by the new "Wallace and Gromit" adventure, which made for a near perfect couple of hours of Christmas "telly". If you have the required streaming services, I'd recommend lining them up together.

[1] UK TV Channel that, although gradually shaking off some of its lowest-common-denominator reputation, still has a tendency (and especially at this time of year) to fill its schedules with programmes with titles like "Britains Favourite Potatoes" and the like.

A suitcase with a star ready to go supernova....in a couple of million years.

It's the Christmas special so it should be Joy-ous 😉.
Also some classic Moffet-callbacks (as well as a bootstrap paradox to "Boom") and timey-whimey antics .

Small bit of related "Who" news, Tom Baker was awarded a MBE in the New Years Honours list. For those unaware of this very British way of rewarding public service (...mostly... 😅), it is a very straightforward and simple to explain system, similar to the Rules of Cricket or the "Offside" rule in footbal... I mean, soccer... 😉:
