zeo-mare Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 it looks like you pinned it? will crazy glue hold those pins together with the main piece? if not, i think there are recast available for these parts. chris Quote
1 VF-1 2NV Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Ouch. That doesn't look good. Super glue won't help. You might have to look for a replacememt. Quote
DatterBoy Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Just hit up Rohby for one. I believe he still has them available. Just ordered one from him a few days ago. Great thing is, he has them molded in the Roy 1S color so you'll have anear match. Only 5$ bucks last I recall... What action are people doing to break these so often? Are they really that fragile? I've bought 2 from Rohby in the past, but only for valks that I bought that had them busted. :Dat Quote

Godzilla Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 The ole BP-8 issue. Hit up Rohby for the recasts. Quote
Greyryder Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Has anyone ever considered casting those things in white metal? Quote
ghiblione Posted June 14, 2005 Author Posted June 14, 2005 White metal? Just like a part of the legs? Quote
Greyryder Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 I think. I guess it's the same as die cast. Interestingly enough, The Gizmologist's Lair has some stuff on metal casting, including working with aluminum. Quote
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Ya know metal recasts woult not only be durable, but white metal would eliminate the need to paint!! Heck....perhaps we can recast some parts of the 1/48 in diecast to make a more metal content 1/48! Quote
Lynx7725 Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Ya know metal recasts woult not only be durable, but white metal would eliminate the need to paint!! Err. White metal isn't the same white as plastic. It's just whiter than die-cast. You still need to paint it. Frankly, I've been waiting for Yamato to improve that part for quite some time already, I guess it's best that when I get my CF I create molds for the part.. Quote
EXO Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 that's part isnt that fragile. It's when people force is to go up that it breaks. Quote

Skull Leader Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Its really a damn sturdy piece when one considers all it has to do. It's not that it's cheap or poorly designed, the very laws of physics demand that part BP-8 act as it does when too much force is placed upon it. Quote
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 To be honest I like te 1/60 backpack hinge better. It locks into place and I have not heard anyone breaking it. I always wondered why it was not used on the 1/48/ Quote
vlenhoff Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 To be honest I like te 1/60 backpack hinge better. It locks into place and I have not heard anyone breaking it. I always wondered why it was not used on the 1/48/ The bigger the part, the more gravity acts upon it. Then if extra/additional unwanted forces are applied, breakage is the result. Knock on wood, Vic! I feel your pain my friend... Quote
ghiblione Posted June 17, 2005 Author Posted June 17, 2005 I've ordered one from Rohby, It will arrive in about 2 weeks like I'm in Paris. Thanks Rohby and everybody here. Yes , the 1/60 one can be pushed up, that's very nice. Bizarre 1/48.... Quote
