Pazu Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Hi Macross fans. It's been awhile since I posted here, but I am currently working on something which might interest you guys. Its Destroid Spartan based on Nichimo's kit. Just some in-progress here. Enjoy! BTW, is the largest Destroid Spartan kit out the a 1/72? Thanks. Quote
jardann Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 That's a great start! There is a 1/72 scale kit of the spartan, but it is pretty hard to find. There is also a 1/100 scale kit that is pretty easy to find. Either one may help you with references. There are some good lineart images out there too that would be good for references. What are you building this out of? Sheet styrene? The hand looks like it was carved. Keep up the good work! Quote
kanata67 Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 I think the matchbox toy ones were close to 1/55 scale. It's been a while since I did the math but there was an old thread were all the scales were worked out past the decimal. If you want line art I have a 1/100 kit I was going to make to keep my 1/100 valks company but twill be a long time before I do so. SO if you want the kit... or just the box for the art, let me know Quote
Pazu Posted June 14, 2005 Author Posted June 14, 2005 Thanks guys. Think I have all the dimensions and references worked out already. Its gonna to be 1/100 BTW. Quote
promethuem5 Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 WOW! I cannot believe you are cutting that all from plasticard.... how DO you do that? Quote
Pazu Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 how DO you do that? Ermm.. that is a bit too general a question no? " If you have any more specific questions I may be able to answer you. Quote
promethuem5 Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Haha, fair enough.... how do you plan it out? Do you sketch it up and make templates, or just start cutting and fitting as you go along? Quote
Pazu Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 Yes, I make detailed calculations and plans based on the Nichimo kit. I don't think there is any way this can be done by 'cutting and fitting'. Quote
bhop Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Awesome project Pazu. Can't wait to see the final outcome. Quote
EXO Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 beautiful scratch build. did you build the hand too? Quote
honneamise Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Great build, Pazu! These parts look VERY precise and I´m sure your Spartan will be a definite improvement over the old ARII kit. Are you planning to make it poseable or will it be a static display piece? Quote
Pazu Posted June 21, 2005 Author Posted June 21, 2005 bhop: Heh. Nice to see you here. >EXO<: Everything is scratchbuild. Including the hands (they are called Crow Hands. Cool. ) honneamise: Nice to see a comment from a master scratch-builder like yourself. I plan to make it as re-poseable as possible but I will not sacrifice details over poseability. Meaning the knee/elbow joints will probably be static. Quote
Pazu Posted July 15, 2005 Author Posted July 15, 2005 any update on this project? 310209[/snapback] Yes! Actually a couple of weeks old now cos the MW forum was down. (LOL.. I need a tutorial on how to use this new Invision version.) Enjoy! Quote
THOR Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Pazu, I'm doing the same in 1/35th scale if you haven't seen. I'm having trouble with the hand, fingers, and forearm. Would you share your measurements or drawings? I'd be willing to share what I have... I have in AutoCAD the torso, waist, chest missile bays, thighs, shins, forearms, and shoulders. -THOR Quote
Pazu Posted July 19, 2005 Author Posted July 19, 2005 I'm doing the same in 1/35th scale if you haven't seen. I'm sorry.. actually I haven't. I didn't find your works when I searched the forum. I sure would like to see them! I would like to share with you but the hands are purely sculpted out of freeform, I didn't draw any plans for them. Quote
THOR Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Pazu, Your work looks fantastic! I was hoping you drew plans first. I don't have your talent... -THOR Quote
neptunesurvey Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Planning on make casts to sell to us fellow builders? Quote
Pazu Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 Thanks guys but this is still far from being complete. I am not sure about making casts because of the complexity and large undercuts. I am not sure if you guys would be interested enough to warrant it too. Quote
THOR Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Not much has changed in a year since I lost access to a milling machine... Quote
Pazu Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 Thanks for the pics. I do have some plans and drawings but they are hand drawn for my own reference only and no way as complete as yours! Quote
