Yohsho Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 So recently History Channel started airing a show called Spitfire Ace(s) on thursdays, where a bunch of ppl go thru the same training as the spitfire pilots did during the battle of britain and the winner gets to fly a original spitfire at the end. I'm just wondering if anyone's seen this show cuz I keep missing it. Quote
F-ZeroOne Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 (edited) This aired on the UK channel Channel 4 a few months back. Its a pretty good series; although the "make people today the battle-hardened pilots of yesterday" is probably the least interesting aspect - that goes to the interviews with the real thing, the Last of the Few... It also features comments from Stephen Bungay, who wrote the superb "The Most Dangerous Enemy", and the series appears to be quite heavily based on that work. And, of course, lots of footage of Spitfires doing what Spitfires do best - being the loveliest warbird there ever was... Edited May 28, 2005 by F-ZeroOne Quote
HWR MKII Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 wow i didnt realise how behind the US is when it comes to getting UK produced stuff. Its gonna suck going back to the states. They also have a show over here called supermodeler and someone is making a 1/16 scale(i think) gas turbine powered C17 globe master. Its a repeat show but its good tele. The spitfire ace show could have been a bit better too it didnt move quickly enough. Quote
