Wildstar Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 I have a 1/48 armor set that I may or may not want to customize. However, I'm not decided on that and I may just put the armor on my 1/48 VF-1A Hikaru. However the previous owner of the armor tried to customize it by adding green highlights with paint on the arm armor as part of a "DYRL Super VF-1A Kakizaki" project. Does anyone knwo of a good way to remove that paint w/o damaging the armor? Quote
EXO Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 are there stickers your trying to preserve or can you take it apart? If you can take it apart youi can just soak it in regular PineSol or Castrol Degreaser. It won't damage it. Quote
Wildstar Posted May 20, 2005 Author Posted May 20, 2005 Nah...not trying to save any stickers. Just want to get that paint off the armor. About how long should should I leave the parts in Pinesol? Quote
EXO Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 about 24 hours... you gotta understand though, that this will remove all paint from the armor, not just the ones applied by the previous owner. Maybe you should try to use Castrol Degreaser... on that I found that it left the original paint better than Pine Sol... but it will degrease it to the point where you can take off the paint. you can also try just soaking the painted area. if it can be done. remember to wear gloves and don't inhale too much of the stuff. Wildstar Posted May 20, 2005 Author Posted May 20, 2005 Thanks EXO. The paint in question is on the notches of the arm armor closest to the hand. In fighter mode, in which I now keep my 1/48 Hikaru, the paint is not visible. Quote
