So where do I pick up some of these fancy custom hands for my 1/48? The original Yamato ones simply suck.

you need to read more. Rohby recasts the TV style hands and is recasting Eternal D's Custom DYRL hands. TV hands are made by yamato and came with the VF-1J Super. the DYRL hands are more square and rectangular.
