Anybody want to make a guess what the plane in the foreground is? I'm guessing a UAV. Looks to have forward swept wings and canards.

The plane in the background is obviously a VF-0.

This pic is from Macross Zero episode # 3 and was scanned from the November 2003 issue of Hobby Japan.

UAV. Early version of the Ghosts the SDF-1 was supposed to have, but we never see.

i can't read kanji but the katakana at the beginning of the second line says "GO-SU-TO", i.e., Ghost.

Also, compare the pics at Nanashi's. Click here.

The QF-3000 is a lifting body, while the picture seems to show wings. But otherwise the profiles resemble one another.

Ghost prototype :) . It's actually confirmed in the caption in japanese:

Mysterious craft(s) seen on the deck of the Asukua. Seems like a prototype of the UN Forces unmanned fighter Ghost.

It literally says: "Enigmatic craft seen on the deck of ASCA. Prototype of the Unified Forces' Unmanned Fighter Ghost." There was sufficient Kanji and Katakana for me to figure this one out...I'm Chinese.

Definetively a Ghost prototype :)

At last we'll see some action from these babies , though I suspect they'll get blown out pretty quickly if they ever encounter DD or Nora in the air.

I'm not a all suprised by modern look of the aircraft itself since current UAVs look pretty similar and this is supposed to be set int 2008 and there's this thing called overtechnology which more or less changed the technological standards of that era , I'm only suprised they decided to use foward-swept wings in an UAV , but what the heck it looks nice anyway
