Mechwarrior Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Just caught this trailer on SciFi during the pilot episode showing, the movie looks awesome, can't wait for it also. Is the trailer they showed the same one linked up here, my pc dont like apple, so i cant play it. Quote
Gaijin Posted July 30, 2005 Author Posted July 30, 2005 The one on TV is a new one. The one on Apple's site is the new and the previous one. There is also an international one (th best one IMO) that was linked ear;ier with real and wmv versions of it. Quote
EXO Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 this poster is kinda different from the one previously posted.... Quote
Knight26 Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 The trailer was cool, one complain not enough Kaylee was shown. Quote

EXO Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 I guess Joss Whedon always forgets Kaylee... in the SDCC panel, Whedon introduces the entire cast one by one and forgets to bring out Jewel Staite. He goes on with the panel until Morena Baccarin(Inara) whispers to him that there's still another person behind the curtain. Boy she was pissed. Quote

IT's also too bad she just got married, another hot little red head off the market, darn. LOL Quote

Book wasn't in the trailers at all, and it seems like he's a major part of the storyline. Quote

He got down on his knees when she came out. She was pissed but laughing at the same time. He said that he was gonna make it up. It was a running joke thru the panel. Those Firefly panels are hilarious. Nathan Fillion is one of the funniest guys around. Everyone else fits their show personality, except for Adam Baldwin, he's a hell of a lot smarter than Jayne. Gaijin Posted August 2, 2005 Author Posted August 2, 2005 Try discussing politics with Adam..I hear he really gets the rest of the cast going with those discussions. Quote
uminoken Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Yeah, Adam is a STRONG conservative, and that endears him to me somewhat I would dearly love to go to DragonCon to see the crew, but stupid money problems so no go Quote

Isamu Atreides 86 Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Has anyone been reading the Serenity comics from Dark Horse? I missed out on em. The gimmick they have going on is 3 covers for each issue of the miniseries, with a different crew member on each. Really mad that i missed out on the Kaylee cover... Anyway, has anyone read these? are they any good? Quote
akabob Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Ill have to tell the wife theres some kind of love story to trick her into seeing this with me. Quote

One of the characters in the series that you think is dead is alive in the books. It's not drawn very well though. The characters look kinda tweak. Ill have to tell the wife theres some kind of love story to trick her into seeing this with me. 318684 Have her watch the episode where Mal gets accidently married first... girls love that episode. Then have them watch the series from the beginning. They'll get hooked. Quote
Gaijin Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 (edited) Anyone in Vegas? We're planning on a huge ass Browncoat shindig for the premiere. Ordinarily not the kind of thing I'm interested in but since I know a lot of the people...and every major name Browncoat is going..what the heck...and it's Vegas too. Isamu Atreides 86 Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 i went to the shop today and picked up 1 and 2 (no Kaylee cover though... ). Read em both, and they were pretty good. it feels like an episode of the show, too bad the commercials are way longer. . Just makes me more pumped for the movie. I really wish they would either pick the show back up or do an ongoing comic series, so we can find out more about the Blue Handed guys, the War, and resolve some of the longer running plot ideas and character issues. Maybe Sci-fi will pick the show back up if the movie does well enough. i hear if it does well, there will be sequels, so thats good. Quote
Isamu Atreides 86 Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 I think I read somewhere that Whedon had to sign a non competition contract to get the movie made. I.E. Fox owns the rights to the show but Universal bought the rights to do a movie. I think that was a problem with the show Smallville and the rumored Superman Vs Batman movie. That if a movie was made, the studio wouldn't want to support the show anymore. For what reason its unclear, but I remember reading it. Maybe someone else here has a better legal understanding of if Firefly can get back on TV with a minimum of fuss and trouble. 321012 in one of the DVD featurettes, it says they hope maybe someone will want to make a TV series out of the successful Serenity movie . I don't get the Bats v Supes. Warner Brothers owns both of them. there shouldn't be a problem with non-competition. Quote

Unless Fox decides to bring the show back, you won't see Firefly on TV again unless either: 1. It's 2014 AD 2. Someone purchases the TV rights Joss has closed up TV though...Mutant Enemy is no more, and I think he wants to go the movie route. TV studios have messed with him so many times. If Fox decided they want the show back, I don't think Joss and co would do it. I kinda doubt Sci-Fi/NBC/Universal/USA would pick up the show...it was rather expensive to produce as a TV show and if the movie does well, Uni will want the movie mileage out of them instead of TV. The comics are a mixed bag. It is nice to see our BDH's in action again, but some parts feel off. Issue 2 has a character moment with Wash and Mal that was nice, and tho worship Joss I do, I don't get the return of the once-thought-dead person (didn't want to spoil it) It's too far out there. But it'll be interesting to see why characters in the movie aren't on the ship like Book and Inara..... Quote
Isamu Atreides 86 Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 yeah, i hope the third issue will rap things up and have the crew where they are gonna be when the movie starts. I can't wait to see it though. Quote

Gaijin Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 I just saw Jewel Staite in a TV show on DVD recently, WonderFalls. Its interesting to see her play against her Kaylee type in that show. (WonderFalls BTW is a great show, more proof that Fox should try to let shows build an audience. The Sci Fi shows I can see getting the axe because of the larger budgets, but cheap character driven shows like WonderFalls and Keen Eddie might have actually gotten popular if given half a chance. Whats going to happen is good shows eventually will wise up and try to get picked up by HBO or Showtime or some other pure cable channel before they even try network TV. It looks like Cable TV is willing to make an investment in a show for at least a full season, probably two to see where its heading. Galactica and Curb Your Enthusiam would never last on network TV, which tells you theres something wrong with network TV. )Staite does look hotter covered in engine grease though. Guess the Doc was right. 321310 Fox didn't know how to figure Wonderfalls into their "lineup". The didn't have their trademark "sexpot" actors to flash, and it wasn't a straight up sitcom so they did what they always do..throw it on Friday night and if it didn't get 8 bajillion viewers the first 2 weeks, they canned it. Wonderfalls is a great show...the DVD's sold very well for a show that only aired 4 eps. Tim Minear of course, worked on both FF and Wonderfalls. Quote

I heard rumor Wonderfalls was picked up (reruns) by a homosexual themed channel. No word if they're gonna show the whole season, but can't see why they wouldn't, it wraps up fairly nicely. And speaking of Minear, anyone know if 'The Inside' is coming to dvd? Quote
uminoken Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 R. Tam Session 416 This downloadable file just showed up on ifilm. They claim they got it through a filesharing program, but as of now, no one, not even Universal, claims it. Rumor has it a part of the marketing blitz, although aimed at the horror crowd. Some think it's Nathan/Joss in the coat, some don't even think it's Summer. Either way, River just got a hell of alot more creepifying Quote
