they had the best looking xbox 360 game running better and faster on the ps3 roflmao.

You do know that the XBox 360 demos at E3 are using about 1/3 of it's true capabilities? That's probably why they don't look as great.

As long as I'm seeing it... I was under the impression that the PS3 had nothing to show but video tapes.

Given even when Sony has a real-time interactive demo there's no guarantee it is what they say it is, why should we believe them when they have a non-interactive video?

Well apparently they did have some demos that were playable...but again they were using the Alpha sytems instead of the final product. It's what they were reporting at the E3 special on G4TechTV.

I went to gamestop on Monday to get some PSP games for my long trip to washington this weekend to attend my Grandfather funeral.

Well just as I stepped into the door they had a sign "LAST DAY TO RESERVE YOUR XBOX 360!"

Talk to Sean the guy who works there whose one of the guys I'm buddy buddy with. We chatted about the 360 for a while, just the stuff I've read and caught on G4TV.

I ended up spending nearly 140 dollars I think....got 2 PSP games, a new adaptor for it and I put down 50 bucks on the 360.

Went back to work where I also found out one of my co-worker buddies also placed an order for the 360 by trading off one of two of his xbox's.

November release, might have been a bit premature for me to make such a move when I don't even know what games are coming out and if any of them are going to affect me at all on wanting to buy. Obviously Halo3's rumor release with the 360 turned out false since it takes about 2 years or so for a Halo game to be produced....and November will strike the 1 year mark.

Last I heard, Microsoft was looking to release Halo3 on the same day that the PS3 launches :)

That's what MS hopes will happen...

PS3 is spring of 06 isn't it? That still means about a year and a half since Halo2's release....though I'm sure right after they completed Halo2 they started the ground works for Halo3....well......hm.....yeah almost been a year......took them 2 to finish Halo2.....heh I don't know.

Gates confirmed it.

To be fair, though, they are assuming that the PS3 won't realese any earlier than they said it would. If Sony decided to move up the time table, I don't think Microsoft could cope. But then again, I don't see Sony moving up the timetable. In fact, I don't see their planned Spring 2006 launch as being worldwide, but rather just in Japan, with a US release to follow in September, and I'm sure that Microsoft is aiming at the US launch.

It's hard to say what exclusives are going to turn up on each console, but something like 60-75% of the games released today release on multiple consoles. The Xbox 360 is as good a place as any to start your next-gen gaming (perhaps better, if the PS3's controller turns out to be as uncomfortable as it looks). In fact, one of the games I'm hoping to pick up at launch is Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2006, which will almost certainly be an upgraded version of a game released on the PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, and PSP (as is Need for Speed Most Wanted, but barring any huge differences in cars and tracks, screw graphics... I want it for PSP).

I am holding out that the 360 exclusive Perfect Dark Zero will have some solid gameplay, even if it won't be the prettiest FPS on the block.

PS3 pad looks like... well, like Sony stole the GameCube handles and welded them to the DualShock.

Personally, I think it's a massive improvement, as the 'Cube pad is the most comfortable one I've used since... well, ever, and I've always hated the handles Sony uses.

For me the standard DualShock design is a study in discomfort. I've never been ble to hold the thing in a way that made my hands NOT hurt after a while.

The PS3 pads might turn out to be comfy like that (I'll agree that the Cube's pads are comfier than they look), but rather than adding comfier grips to the current dual shock, it looks more like they took a U-shaped tube and threw some buttons on it. Perhaps comfy to hold, but it doesn't appear to be comfy to hold and push buttons/work the sticks.

And you gotta admit... the 360's controllers do look pretty comfy. The preview/review that IGN posted was extremely favorable, too.

Believe it or not, I'm being my usual optimistic self.

I expect the worst of Sony(and usually proven right, as in the other thread), but keep holding out hope that they'll do something to prove me wrong.

The fact that they're even partially abandoning the standard dual shock layout encourages me to no end

Though I AM dismayed that the thumbsticks are still down low and there's still only 4 face buttons, they seem to have brought start and select out from the center, so there'll be less stick interference there. Without a shot of the underside, I can only hope that L2 and R2 have been stepped back farther than L1/R1 for a change.
