Ed.Coli Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Though, it's usually bad luck to name something that has to do with robotics HAL... Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 That is pretty ingenious. If this were made a few years ago and lot less expensive I would have gotten it for my father. Quote
Zentrandude Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 I belived someone posted this long time ago. Quote
Gabe Q Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Can you imagine where this will be ten or fifteen years from now? You can just put on a suit and be ten times stronger. Quote
wolfx Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Some blokes at MIT were doing something similar. It was a backpack and a walking exoskeleton, so you could carry heavy objects on your back and walk at the same time. Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 The beauty of the suit is: true to power suits in anime, it merely copies the individuals normal human moves. If taken on a large scale (I dunno like a large robot similar to that thing in aliens) there wouldn't be much need to train a person to pilot a robot for heavy lifting. I think this is the most efficient control system for a real world powered suit since unlike vehicular machine controls, motions are natural and there is no delay. (just like the appleseed suits: that scene where duenan lifts herself in the suit for the first time) Quote
Lonely Soldier Boy Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Guess we're in the threshold of a powersuit world, like Patlabor. Quote
Dangaioh Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Let me reiterate "1/1 LowViz Lurker", we want a Guges... or a Moto-Slave. Quote
Yohsho Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 I remember seeing something like this a few years ago in a prototype stage, it was supposed to assist people with walking. Quote
JB0 Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Can you imagine where this will be ten or fifteen years from now? You can just put on a suit and be ten times stronger. Don't forget the plasma beams! Quote
NERV Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 now they just need to extend it to the arms and construciton workers can carry I-beams on their own Quote
Zentrandude Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 now they just need to extend it to the arms and construciton workers can carry I-beams on their own Don't worry insurance companies will take care of that problem. Nice cheap Robot to replace each worker. Quote
RichterX Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 I can only imagine the medical uses it will have in ten to twenty more years. It reminds me of that guy in Dark Angel that becomes paralyze and then uses an exo skeleton for his legs to walk. Quote
NERV Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 or that shortlived tv show Mantis, where the cripple guy made the exoskeleton suit and then went crime fighting Quote
Gui Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Can you imagine where this will be ten or fifteen years from now? You can just put on a suit and be ten times stronger. Don't forget the plasma beams! Or the micro-missiles payload!!! Quote
Jawjaw Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Awesome. All it needs is a cool looking robot shell and the future is now! Quote
Lonely Soldier Boy Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 I was thinking on buying the Yamato Millia Q-Rau, but I think I'll better wait a couple of years and have my own powersuit in the garage. Quote
