I don't know what to say. Hasbro decides to make a show based on their preschooler Transformers: Gobots toys. (formally known as 1-2-3 Transformers)

The good part is that Hasbro didn't use the working title "Transformers: Machine RoBOT Rescue" for this show.

Forgive my n00bishness when it comes to new TF crap, but since when did Go-Bots have anything to do with Transformers!?

I still think the best use of the GoBots stuff is Leader-1 being the minicon that comes with Optimus Prime.

The Minicon Leader-1 comes with Megatron, not Optimus Prime. Prime's Minicon partner is named Sparkplug.

The confusion arose due to the English dubbing of the Armada anime. The Japanese name for Minicon Sparkplug was named Leader-1 while Minicon Leader-1 was named Barrel. Since the scripts were written in Japanese, the English translators slip up in converting the Japanese names into English equivalents, such Starscream's Minicon partner sometimes called Grid instead of its real name Swindle. Optimus Prime's Japanese name, Convoy, sometimes show up.

Hasbro bought up Tonka back in the 1990s and today, Tonka is one of Hasbro's subdivisions. Look behind the box of any Tonka toy and it would say "© Tonka, a division of Hasbro, Inc."

Because of this, Hasbro now owns the Gobots name, the franchise and most of the trademarked names (such as Leader-1's name ended up as the name of Megatron's Minicon partner). However, Hasbro cannot reissue the 1980s Tonka Gobot toys because they are owned by Bandai, Takara's toy rival.

With Hasbro owning the Gobots, they get to gloat about it.

An Autobot in the Generation 2 line has the name "Gobots":

The name "Gobots" in Generation 2 were also a subline of minicars, which later became the Spychangers in RID:

Lastly, Hasbro created the preschool "Transformers: Gobots" toyline, replacing the preschool 1-2-3-Transfomers and Playskool Transformers lines:

The fact that Hasbro owns Tonka (and the Gobots) are common knowledge in Transformers fandom/message boards.

Oh.

I didn't keep real close track of it.

I just got Leader-1 associated with Prime by virtue of being good guy leader.

Well, if anything it further perpetuates the idea that anything associated with the term "Go-Bots" is bad.

Hey, Gobots kicked ass!

wow, a cartoon for the transformers go-bot line. Wow, this might be pretty interesting, seeing bulky transformers for kids as a cartoon. I may watch this! :p:D:lol:

Wow, how do they expect fans to follow such a convoluted and butchered story? Thanks for the info. I think TF lost me with "Starscream's Ghost" after that it I couldn't make sense of anything!

transformers is all about the toys, screw continuity  Its true, most of the toys that were made never show up in the cartoon, and alot only got small cameo's in the marvel comic which was a pretty good series.
