Seanzilla Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Episode 407: Darkness On Umbara When Anakin is forced to temporarily turn over command of his clone troopers to a new commander, the Jedi Pong Krell, tensions begin to run high as the clones are assigned with a very deadly mission to take the capital of Umbara. I think this story arc can turn Season 4 around. Quote
Mog Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Graham will be most please with this ep. Now that I know that General Krell is one of those four-armed aliens, it kinda, sorta makes sense why he'd be dual-wielding two double-bladed sabers (other than the "kewl" factor). Also, I'm almost certain one of those 501st clones, after seeing Krell's demeanor, was thinking (with a Kiwi-accent): "What I wouldn't give to initiate Order 66 on that sorry fool's ass!" Very promising start to the four-parter! Quote
Graham Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 My son and I both really enjoyed this episode. I really loved the nods to Aliens in the beginning with the "Let's lock and load" from one of the clones and alo the music when the gunshis where coming in on approach to drop off the clones. This is what Clone Wars should be like! Graham Quote
Totoro242 Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Did everyone see the Z-95's in this episode? Interesting that they are Republic fighters. I always figured them as part of some smaller army's starfighters. Quote
Zor Primus Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Did everyone see the Z-95's in this episode? Interesting that they are Republic fighters. I always figured them as part of some smaller army's starfighters. They are pre-cursors to the X-wing. More surprising is they are already in production. Quote
Seanzilla Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I loved last week's episode. Easily the best of the season for so many reasons! Oh please let's have a Krell vs. Grievous fight! Lightsabers galour... (Though I have a feeling Krell doesn't survive this story arc. Maybe Grievous will show up in the final episode to make that happen.) Episode 408: The General General Krell orders Captain Rex and the clone troopers of the 501st Legion to conquer a heavily fortified Umbaran airbase, and will not accept anything less than victory. It is an almost certain suicide mission, unless the clones can use their ingenuity to defeat their new enemy. Quote

Dobber Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I didn't notice them either, saw the ARC's though, will have to go back and watch again. Chris Quote
Mog Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Yeah. . . this will not end well. I have a feeling the 501st will have a pre-emptive Order 66. Or Rex is gonna end up dead. Quote
Zor Primus Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Krell needs to get caught in a crossfire or something ....or even better have him go nuts and duel/lose to Anakin...but not before seeding some "whatever it takes" ideas to him Quote
Seanzilla Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I am on the fence about Krell. I don't want to see him die... yet. I definitely don't want to see him as a double agent or anything like that. We have already seen that enough, and that is way too predictable. You could see it in some of the clones' eyes... they were thinking how badly they wanted to Order 66 his ass. Even some of the conversations they had amongst themselves almost tended to lead that way. Anakin vs. Krell would be cool, but would take away in my opinion Anakin's turn on Mace Windu. However when Anakin returns, if he arrives just as Krell has his lightsaber out and pointed at one of the clones again, especially if it is Rex, I can see there being some big trouble there. Anyways, absolutely loved the episode, and just trying to guess the outcome of this story arc is pretty exciting. Better than what the Clone Wars has given us in a while, that is for sure. Quote
Zor Primus Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Hadn't seen ep 4.7 till just now...to answer Knight and Dobber's question, just look at the fighters that escorted Krell in and Anakin out Great battles, this is what the entire should be about! We need to see what Palpatine needed Anakin so bad that he pulled him back to Coruscant, it'd be cheesy for them not to spin off a story about that! Quote
Seanzilla Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Palpatine knew it was a suicide mission. He didn't want his future apprentice hurt or killed. At least that is my guess. I am loving the Umbaraians, and their technology. So happy to see that the Seperatists aren't just droids. Especially since these guys are putting up a real resistance. Quote
m0n5t3r Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 i finally watched ep. 7... i thought it was going to be boring just like the last few episode. finally some action, and lots of it. d'ling ep. 8, can't wait to watch it... Quote
Dobber Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 went back and saw the Z-95's....cool, thanks for pointing them out. Originally, I just thought they were ARC's with the s-foils closed since they are so quickly seen. Chris Quote
kalvasflam Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Been watching the clone wars on and off, and I like the last two episodes. Reminds me that there is actually a war going on, less droids, less bitchy Padme, and no frigging Jar jar. Just get me clones, and stuck up jedi. I would like to see Dooku or Grevious take down old four arms, poetic justice especially if the clones just watch on and do nothing. Quote

Chris no worries, key difference regardless of the s-foils the Z's have two engines while the arc's have four. Quote
Totoro242 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 (edited) Z-95 They are definitely different from the traditional Z-95's that are seen in the EU. They bare less resemblance to the X-Wing, but are still unmistakably similar. Edited November 8, 2011 by Totoro242 Quote
Zor Primus Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 When are we going to see the ETA-2's!?!?!?!? Arguably my favorite fighter after the X-wing. Quote
Seanzilla Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Episode 409: Plan of Dissent After the Republic conquers an Umbaran airbase, General Krell orders Rex and his men on towards the heavily fortified capital. Realizing there's a better plan, several clone troopers disobey orders to carry out a rogue, covert operation. Quote
Mog Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Krell's an idiot. He doesn't mind going through clones like toilet paper. And yet, he can't afford to risk three clone troopers' lives on a sneak attack? What? Three clones are gonna make the difference in them capturing the capital? Now he's just being a stubborn ass. Can't wait to see how this guy bites it in the end. Quote

Keith Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 I've got a feeling that this arc may very well end with no one but Krell knowing what really happened to the 501st. Quote
Bri Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 I've got a feeling that this arc may very well end with no one but Krell knowing what really happened to the 501st. I feel that the Krell arc is used to built up a motive for the 501 to dislike the Jedi in preparation for the slaughter inside the Jedi temple. Which seems a bit out of character until now for the honorable clone troopers even with order 66 active. Wouldn't surprise me if Krell get's offed next episode by either Rex pushed too far, or with the help of a Palpatine loyalist like Tarkin. Quote
Zor Primus Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Krell has to go down...he's hard headed fool, who doesn't even fight. A waste of his species in the storyline, 2 dual blades hung there like forks, and the only time we've seen them is killing a pair of native creatures. Quote

Bri Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Excep Except that Palpatine is the one who called back Anakin, assumedly leaving his troops in that situation to prompt some anti-Jedi ire from Anakin. Makes sense, Anakin will hate the Jedi for allowing a guy like Krell to lead his men. The 501 will trust Jedi other then Anakin less after this operation. Wouldn't surprise me if somehow Palpatine engineered Krell's assignment in secret to harden both Anakin and the 501 for knightfall. Quote

Risking charges of mutiny, Rex must make a dark choice as the true face of the enemy emerges. Quote
christ Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 (edited) This last episode was so fantastic, I can't get over it. Shades of episode 3 everywhere. Existential clone dilemmas...what every stormtrooper must be thinking inside his helmet while the emperor rules the galaxy in the future. This was like Star Wars: Platoon. Best arc ever! SPOILER BELOW: "So, it's treason then!" -General Krell Edited November 19, 2011 by christ Quote

You know for a Jedi, Krell doesn't act like a Jedi. To me he seems more like a Sith!!! Quote
Mog Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 WOW! They actually executed Krell!! Liked the episode for the most part, especially the internal conflict in the various Clones. But really didn't like the whole "Krell is EVILâ„¢ and has been actively sabotaging the mission" bit. I didn't like how they made his actions so clearly black and white; I'd have preferred more shades of grey. Maybe make him bitter about how many Jedi have died during this war. Maybe have him haunted by visions of the 501st executing Jedi at the Temple in the future. Just give him some BETTER motivation than betraying the Republic and wanting to selfishly look out for his own self-interest. Look, I didn't mind him being a dick to the Clones (especially if he values their lives less than the Jedi). Hell, I could even tolerate him tricking the Clones into shooting themselves (as long as he justifies it by saying, "I needed to thin your numbers in order to give the Jedi a better chance at surviving!") But what they did to his character in this episode really sh*t on what made Krell an interesting and compelling character these past few episodes. Quote
Dobber Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 I agree with Mog. Overall, really good episode and 4 part story arc.....but....... Spoilers: Like Mog said they really missed a chance with Krell. Felt like they took the easy way out and just made him a straight up villain not just to the clones but to the Jedi and republic. I was hoping/thinking that Krell would tell the clones something like "do you think my fellow Jedi would take your word over mine?" and that his actions are justified (the court marshal ) and the "Jedi would agree with his decision." Thus further planting the seeds of distrust for the Jedi in the clones. Just wish the left him as the strict/hard assed commander that just didn't give a crap about clones (since they are beneath him and other "sentient" beings) rather than ta Sith lord wanna-be.
