hellohikaru Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 well alot of the aircraft designs in macross are from the early 80s so i doubt he used the Mi-28 Havoc or Su-25 Frogfoot for it since very little is published or known about it that time. IMO the Commanchero is based on the Hind obviously, the Avenger II maybe a Fairchild T-46/Saab 105 and the Tunny looks like a lengthen C-14 airlifter. And he just loves to give them downward pointing winglets. Quote
cokefiend Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 Every time I look for Destroids I only find them in 1/100 scale. Can anyone point me to the 1/72 variety? Quote
Kylwell Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 Every time I look for Destroids I only find them in 1/100 scale. Can anyone point me to the 1/72 variety? The 1:72 scale Destroids are getting harder & harder to find on Ebay (or anywhere else for that matter). Generally run $75 on up, tho' I've seen them go for $50 accasionally. Quote
Ravenstar Posted April 3, 2005 Author Posted April 3, 2005 Big Question. Poseable or Fixed? Poseable would be limited , nothing like the big boys can produce . Fixed would be in a action pose. nothing stiff. Quote
AlphaHX Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 I'm not a hardcore hardcore modeler. I'll go with posable. Quote
Grayson72 Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Doesn't matter to me, I'm just after accuracy and detail. Quote

Fixed would be in a action pose. nothing stiff. I'm cool with either, but I would lean toward fixed. I just seem to find that I don't move my models ...so if its a good pose I'd be fine with it...course if you make it poseable I can always build it fixed. Price would (I think) end up being a big deciding factor. Quote
Less than Super Ostrich Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 (edited) Fixed. Definitely. We're modelers here... we're not like the kiddies in the Toy Forum. Edited April 3, 2005 by Less than Super Ostrich Quote
Grayson72 Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Fixed. Definitely. We're modelers here... we're not like the kiddies in the Toy Forum. LTSO, you're turning into a real model elitist... just like me! Quote
Ravenstar Posted April 4, 2005 Author Posted April 4, 2005 ok , I think I'll shot for the 72nd , it will match up with other models better. now to chose what? Quote
Grayson72 Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 Well did you want to start off small, simple or complex or large? Quote
Chas Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 Well my vote ( and from what I've been reading in this forum I think many others' vote also) would be for a 1/72nd VF-2SS in either fighter or Battroid mode, whichever you prefer. Quote
Ravenstar Posted April 4, 2005 Author Posted April 4, 2005 This is what I was thinking of choosing from. I haven't seen one of these. http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/macross2/defenderex.jpg I really like this VF. http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/macross2...ap-battroid.jpg http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/macross2...2ss-fighter.jpg Would like one of these , But not 72nd scale http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/macross2/corvette.jpg I really like this and it will be one that I will do. http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/macross2...poweredsuit.jpg this is a strange looking fighter , me likes. http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/macross2...ommanderpod.jpg Quote
Grayson72 Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 (edited) Wow someone's in love with Macross2, I've never seen that defender either but it's pretty cool looking. The 2nd and 3rd links you list is the VF-2ss of which a fighter version has been done but not a 1/72 batroid version. Not that familiar with the rest of those. The one you picked looks like a bad guy though which are in short supply in toys & models so that'll be great! Edited April 4, 2005 by Grayson72 Quote
hellohikaru Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 Yeah Macross II has an ending that would satisfied most destroid fan boys out there. Lots of upgraded Defender, Phalanx, Tomohawk and even Monster type destroids blasting as countless zentraedi units. The purple one is the commander type battle pod, the green one is supposedly the upgrded version of the N-Ger. The Gloria battleship is cool kinda like the Gatchaman ship. Quote
Myersjessee Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 I'd love to see more Macross II stuff. If you like the 2SS you may want to check out the VF2J! Very cool, and not currently available in 1/72 in battroid or fighter. LINK LINK1 I have the 1/100 kits of the VF2J Fighter and Battroid and the 1/100 kits of the VF2SS Battroid and variable Fighter, as well as the 1/72 VF2SS if any of these would be a help. Quote
Grayson72 Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 (edited) That's a pretty sweet lookin' fighter, thanks for the links Jesse Edited April 4, 2005 by Grayson72 Quote
Guest Bromgrev Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I say go with the Zentraedi Power Suit. There are way to few bad guys out there. Personally, I like limited poseable. I build all my mecha fixed-pose, but poseable kits mean way more diorama possibilities. Quote
TSP Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 How about the VF-XX from Macross II. Yeah! Zentran Valkyrie. That would be my choice too. Quote
MechTech Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Alright, it's not 1/72 or "big scale," but I'm building a VC-33 "Mom's Kitchen in 1/200th if anyone cares. I'm tying to cast it in multiple copies for my 1/200th Daedalus. It's a whopping 3" long! Quote

Wouldn't that be 2.24 meter's in length? I think he was talking about the VC-33 being 3 inches long. " = inches ' = feet anyway, the conpendium lists 488m for the Deadalus, so it should be more like 2.44, not 2.24. Quote
MechTech Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Yep, 1/200th scale. All the details I can fit for the size. If I had the space, I'd go 1/72nd scale though. Quote
