Black Screen in VF-X 2

Ok this is my first time posting on the fourms but have been coming here for months now. I just had time to play my vf-x 2 game i bought long time ago and i just beat the 10th mission and killed my friend in the vf-19a. Instead of getting my bad ending all i got was a black screen. I am playing this on a ps one mini with a boot disk. Now my question is is this my game or is it because I used the boot disk? If it is the boot disk could i just get an offical japanese ps1/2 and that will solve the problem?

same thing happens to everyone who plays vf-x2 with a "boot disk" of some sort...same thing happenes to me but i have a game shark wanabie type thing.plus you cant get the cool armor valks after you beat it,cuz of the black screen....the best thing to do is to get a japanese ps then you can see the ending or you can get a modd chip installed, i think the modd chip will work but im not 100% sure.

Thanks for the info. I am glad that it is not my game very glad hehe. I guess I can wait to get a japanese ps1/2. I just prebought my copy of Macross for PS2 and i use a boot disk and magic slide to play it. I guess I will go and beat my ps2 super robot wars game then.

Nope, even with a mod chip you still get the black screen of death...

Though I've only played with copies, not the original disk...

This has come up before, and as far as I know, it doesn't matter if you're playing a copy on a modded system or the real thing on a Japanese console. A large number of the games are simply defective.

I seen the ending before..but my copy has expired

If you fired at Gilliam..you don't get to see tombstone part but i am not sure(don't recall) if you see the credits rolling.

If you allied with Gilliam you see the credits, hear the hummingbird song "Shot and Shout" and see the tombstone of Maj Angreat.

The worst part about this problem is that once you beat the game you can play through again using any Valkyrie in every mission. To top it off, on some missions you can use an armoured VF-1 or VF-11. And they are su-weet!
