ugh, that's ugly. Looks like it could be the prototype for the Arii model/toys that came out here. Ugh!!

Topless Valkyrie on a fur rug? All we need is some 70's porn music.

heh so when the gun pod makes the sound "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" it set on pleasure instead of full auto.

That toy was put out by Ohsato Toys back in probably 1983. They released two versions, basically imagine the other one grey where this one is tan and tan where this one is gray :) I took one of mine out of the package to examine it closely and the first thing you notice is that the gun pod is HUGE. The toy can't hold the gun pod straight down because its longer than the legs. Above the gun pod is a clear chest plate that is removeable.

Ohsato also released some similar smaller toys that instead of having a clear chest plate, the entire left front of the toy is clear revealing the mechanics underneath. The detail is worse on those, but I think this old stuff is fun to collect.

The Ohsato toys and cards were all aimed at very young children so none of it was ever exported by Tatsunuko. Being that small children played with it, not much of it survived. Add in that, yes, its supa-fugly, you have a fairly rare toy :)

Boo, way to mislead us with your post heading!!!

I want to see robot boobs, dammit!

There you go... mecha boobies.

What is this thing? Looks like VF-11.

It's the SoundForce VF-11.

Go Macross 7.

Actually that ugly toy would be a good idea for a custom. I haven't seen a custom toy or model yet that showed the chest with its internal systems

You guys just don't know how to appreciate funky old toys. These obscure finds are a real treasure for the dedicated macross collector! I managed to get one of these in HK for a friend a couple years back - his surprise sure beat just getting any other typical Bandai or Yammy. :-)

Awww, cmon drifand... what may be the lack of appreciation for funky toys is just our way of skipping crap.

I totally agree Drifand :)

One thing is once someone has a complete collection of Yamato, Bandai and Takatoku what else is left but these other toys? I for one am not going to buy 8 of each version, one is enough.

My collection is well rounded and completely encompasses all Valk toys :)

Nice collection by the way. I always wonder though, why doesn't anyone ever display Valks in GERWALK mode?

I displayed one of mine in GERWALK for a long time, before shelf space required me to re-orient him.

I'm quite fond of GERWALK mode.

It's by far the most distinctive mode, even if it doesn't get as much screen time as the others(which is likely why it seems to be less popular).

A valk in GERWALK mode screams Macross in a way that no other mech is quite capable of.

I also display mine in Gerwalk mode. Its a Yamato 1/48, and perhaps one reason you don't see Gerwalk mode more often is that the 1/48 line is the only one that gets it the most "right"...

I was displaying a Transformers Jetfire in GERWALK...

IMO, it doesn't look particularly good in any mode but fighter. The lack of articulation shows worst in battroid mode, though. It's impossible to get a really good pose out of it.

Thanks, dude. I haven't had time to update my shelf pix, but here's a more recent shot:

Definitely try to show all 3 modes where possible. After the necessary mods to the shoulders and hands, my trio of 1/60 VF-1J's are probably the nicest looking bunch in the whole shelf... The old 1/55's are a solid (and stolid) reminder of how innovative mecha toy designs were back in the day, and how far we've come since then.
