ChristopherB Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 Hello, I was very fortunate to have been able to obtain some awesome items from Winter WF 2005. The people who play with "toys" were of course disappointed by the lack of "generic Macross just-remove-from-box and display items", but for model fans, this WF had a good deal of cool items available. Obtaining these items did not happen overnight, and was not due to luck. I started working on WF Winter 2005 over (6) months ago by staying in contact with MW's designated agents. It took dozens of e-mails/PMs, but the hardwork paid off in the end, and I really appreciate the (3) people who made it happen. I consider all of them to friends, and I'm looking forward to getting more goodies from the next WF event. By the way, although voluntary, I decided to limit myself to (2) of each item, so as to share the wealth with my fellow fans. As before, I've already contracted with the agents for the next event, because the early bird gets the worm. Without further rambling by me: Winter Wonder Festival 2005 Items Obtained by Howard: 1.) Kantogakuindaigaku-Mokeidourakukai 1/72 YF-19 Battroid Valkyrie 2.) Gokigen-Seimetsu 1/72 VF-22S conversion kit 3.) Gokigen-Seimetsu 1/72 VF-0A metal head laser 4.) Myersjessee Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 Hmmm....I got... Jack... and... Sh..... Damn stupid WF thats 1/2 a globe away....impossible for me to get to...and impossible for me to get stuff from!!! GRUMBLE!!! (no need to point out I could have asked someone to get stuff for me...I get it...just feel like being envious and angry! ) Quote
ChristopherB Posted March 19, 2005 Author Posted March 19, 2005 Jesse, Don't be too hard on yourself. After seeing your list of 1/72 Macross items, I'm the one that's envious. I'll take care of getting you scans of whatever items you need, plus you'll probably want to list the Battroid YF-19 as Version 1 and Version 2, or perhaps WF 2004 and WF 2005, based upon the changes made between releases. I know that Chad was tasked with the previous release, but I'm not sure if he has the new one as well. Best wishes, Christopher Quote

Best wishes, Christopher That would be great if you could scan the instructions, boxart and take pictures of the kit pieces. Ill happily list it twice. Thanks.... As for WF....thanks...I do have WAY to many models....just frustrated the the stuff this year is so unattainable....ahh well.... Quote
Grayson72 Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 Looks like the same list of stuff I got except for the fastpacks. Quote
Graham Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 4.) Gokigen-Seimetsu 1/72 VF-0D metal head laser 13.) Gokigen-Seimetsu 1/72 VF-0D metal head laser Ah, so you're the one who snagged all the metal VF-0D head lasers......grumble, grumble . I was trying to get one for the VF-0D I'm having built, but they disappeared pretty quickly . Winter Wonder Festival is a sore subject for me. Not only was I unable to get a VF-0D metal head laser, but I lost out in the lottery for the Liquid Stone YF-19 and then got out bid on auctions for two Liquid Stone YF-19 that appeared on Yahoo japan Auctions after Wonder Fest Graham Quote
ChristopherB Posted March 21, 2005 Author Posted March 21, 2005 Graham, Yeah, I was able to get (2) of them, but I have no idea how many were for sale. If you would like, just let me know your mailing address and I'll send you one of them, no charge. Perhaps you could use your influence to help create a Custom Model Section, similar to the Custom Toy Section. Chad, I'm glad you were also able to get most of the items. Did you use one agent, or two? If you would consider posting a comparision between last years YF-19 Battroid and this years, it would be appreciated. I'm of course presuming that you got another one from the recent Wonder Festival. Sincerely, Christopher Quote
ChristopherB Posted March 21, 2005 Author Posted March 21, 2005 Here are some pictures of the various items before Howard mailed them to me: Gokigen-Seimetsu Hasegawa Upgrade Items: Gokigen-Seimetsu VF-22S: Kantogakuindaigaku-Mokeidourakuka YF-19 Battroid 2005 Improved Articulation Version: I'll get all of the items from the (3) sellers together, and I'll post some updated pictures. Later, Christopher Quote
Less than Super Ostrich Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Can someone tell me why someone would care whether the head lasers are metal or plastic? Quote
ChristopherB Posted March 21, 2005 Author Posted March 21, 2005 Well, you could ask Fulcy since he was working on improved head lasers for the 1/48 valkyrie. The head lasers are of course metal, and hollow. You could also ask all of the Hasegawa builders that hollow out the antennaes, and the Strike Cannon barrels as well. The same applies to the photo-etched parts made by Hasegawa and dozens of other companies. In most cases, these metal parts just fit over the plastic ones, and often aren't that noticeable. The simple reason is increased realism. It's easier to buy a metal head laser that is already hollowed out. Why metal, because you can easily get machined aluminum/brass tubes and just cut them to size. People buy these parts, PE parts, resin upgrade parts and so forth, just so they can make their project as nice and as realistic as they possibly can. It's not to say the stock kits aren't good enough in and off themselves, but obviously the same companies that made the kit, market metal replacement parts to improve their kits. Quote

Couldn't have said it better myself sir Christopher! I didn't get the new battroid this year, couldn't justify spending the money on a kit I basically already have, fully poseable or not. This years looked a bit different as well, seemed more stylized. I still have to figure out how I'm gonna build the one I already have. There's like 100 pieces and no instructions for it. Quote
azrhino Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 (edited) You also don't have seam lines to remove with a metal barrel. I have a couple of projects on hold because I have a cylinder that has seam lines or even worse, is molded slightly off center, and I am trying to figure out how to clean the part up without making it oval instead of round. Headlasers on a resin VF-1S battroid is one of those projects. Edited March 21, 2005 by azrhino Quote
Less than Super Ostrich Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Thanks Chris. Of course its for increased realism. I didn't know they were hollow... that makes sense. Quote
Graham Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 So where is teh Liquid Stone man? Don't go there. Do not go there! Graham Quote
promethuem5 Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Where can someone get one of those 1/72 Battroids? It's not the LS, but it's still gorgeous.... Quote
ChristopherB Posted March 25, 2005 Author Posted March 25, 2005 Noel, Thank you for your post. No problem, I understand that you are busy. Just be careful so you don't have anymore unfortunate accidents and injure yourself. Take it easy, Christopher Quote
